if you ever want to go above 16GB of ram most micro atx motherboards don't support more than 16GB's of RAM
full ATX motherboards can support up to 64GB's of RAM and the extreme editions can support up to 128GB's

@rose barn Lemme see if I can explain a few things about computer building, in the simplest terms I can come up with.
Most motherboards perform the same, regardless of their form factor (their size). Its just down to how many PCI-E slots they have, as a larger board can have more crammed into a smaller space, whereas a small board is limited to 2 or 3, depending.
As for RAM capacity, it is the same type of thing as PCIE. While there are Full ATX boards that support up to 128 GBs of RAM, there are still Micro ATX that supports up to 64, so you really arent limited there.
All form factors typically support all types of processors, so that also isnt a limitation.
Graphics cards are one thing that might influence your build, as they may not fit on the motherboard you want. Nvidia and AMD make cards in varying sizes with minimal changes to overall specification of the card itself. While I dont think the more powerful cards (1070 and up) have short variants, it is still something to consider.
If you go Full ATX, any board will fit in the case and any GPU will fit.
At this point its all a matter of cost.
High end motherboards can get pricey, and even decent mid-tier ones can run under $100.
RAM is also expensive, especially if you try to max out the motherboard, and the exact type of RAM you get, as faster clock speed (2400, 2800, 3000, etc) gets more expensive as you go up in size of each card.
In short, you are only limited by what you want to spend and the size of what you are trying to build
Micro ATX is good for small spaces, but you cant stuff two 2080s into it and have it work right
ATX is good for everything except on the side of overall size itself.
