I always liked the super hornet mod. The “difficulties” of flying it scared away the lesser pilots so I always felt safe knowing that if the pilot was comfortable enough flying it, they were generally pretty good.

I'm optimistic. Maybe we run a one-off campaign like GWOT again to see how it runs, and go from there. DCO was promising, and we gave it a shot.
It would at least give us the gameplay of being able to conduct strategic operations above the level of "Where next? and "Need factory".
Maybe those factories could be the supply depots. Maybe Harpy has to run from Spec Ops QRF's once we make enough noise. Taking an airfield could actually mean something.

I know I'm late to the party and I don't know if someone said it, but LAFS will 100% NOT work in Liberation.
The mod is designed to be used with controlled missions (be it by a Zeus or scripted), not for persistent missions like Liberation, Antistasi, Wasteland, etc
I watched Rimmy's video and was excited about it but it would only be practical for KOG or KT unless under special circumstances
Liberation has it's own version of some of these systems, like Spotters, Counter Battery, CAS/CAP aircraft spawning.
Liberation's version of these systems are significantly simpler, but there isn't an on/off switch for these things

I don't disagree with the idea of cheaper reaper aircraft they just can't be props
like, the real issue this map so far has been the quantity of red air which we can't reliably contest because the dedicated CAP aircraft has a weak radar for some reason

the F-22 has the stealth capability to not need it
it's lacking radar is what tips it over the edge
because the F-22 we ended up paying for gets shot at first anyway because the J-20's radar is more or less better
now, we do have two mods available to us that can rectify this issue
I've tested one and I am testing the other, so it's possible to make a suggestion for it..
What mods are those?
the one I have tested is the Firewill F-35B, and outside of some...meh cockpit visuals (and specifically cockpit visuals, I think the aircraft itself looks awesome), works perfectly fine
diverse loadout options so we can balance it for a decent price, has a working targeting pod and radar, probably would look very well if we gave it 4-6 Air-to-Air missiles for CAP, maybe like 2 guided bombs at most and then a bunch of unguided rockets (since it would be able to use them without being instantly annihilated out of the sky)

yea, the F-22 looks quite a bit better visually in the cockpit, has similar sensor capabilities, the only issue would be that it's just a little more quirky to make a loadout for it because you can't mix AA and bombs in the internal pylons section, and it only carries guided bombs for CAS
Also no VTOL but eh, not a problem
I don't think it matters if you can't have bombs, having a bird that's sole purpose is cap could be good especially on this map

you just have to not have AA missiles in the internal pylons and you can equip two bombs inside (the internal pylons only capable of carrying sidewinders don't count towards this)
you can still equip a pylon or two with sidewinders externally and arma doesn't affect stealth that way

I think you could honestly just switch the f-22s we use now for it and keep with similar loadouts
like, we can give the F-35B 4 AMRAAMs, 2 bombs (say, GBU-54) for SEAD or CB, and then some Zuni HEAT like the ones on the Wisconsin for unguided CAS since it'd be able to pull it off thanks to a decently shielded airframe
on the Firewill F-22, I'd imagine we can give it 2 Sidewinders to replace the Zunis we can't have unless we manually give it the option to carry them externally
the only bug I have ever ran into with these two is a visual bug that doesn't affect gameplay at all

@wet shale The answer to most of this is the F-15.
As it takes two to operate it will mitigate the risk of inexperienced pilots getting up in the air unprepared. Chances are at least 1 pilot will be experienced and can help teach.
As for cheap CAS, guess the Super Tucano that we have in our mods could be used when we do GWOT à la Sky Warden.
The only way I see a super tucano working. is in a campaign with no fixed wing red air, because the second red air spawns you're cooked.

Yeah, all Air, don't think PLA works in the jungle, the AI run like they do on complete modern making straight paths with light deviations... but with how thick the jungle is I think they just go caput on their deviations

I totally understand the jungle limitations, was just a reflection I had about ground BG’s in general, even before we did Vietnam maps.
Feels like something has been changed the last year or so, where Air BG’s just have become more common than ground ones, when it used to be the opposite.

They just can't do anything at that point to effect anything
They are a larger threat due to how they will insta cap objectives, but less fun of a threat IMO.
Used to be great fun to have the whole platoon re-orient to set up ambushes on suspected BG paths, instead of shooting down helicopters and then have to hunt down lost and scattered EI patrols all around your objectives.
One did promote a bit of teamwork and thinking, the other is just a progression controller.
Ground based BG’s usually allow you the time to respond and set up a defense, whereas air doesn’t, creating a lose point and re-cap mechanic.
I don't disagree that air bg's are less fun of a threat, but it's pretty much impossible to make ground bg's a threat on their own. I think if they also sent like a nasam comparable/ avenger comparable vehicle they'd harder to deal with
Honestly, the same assets that would nullify a ground BG, nullifies air BG’s.
I think the biggest difference is time from alert to time when there’s enemies on the point.
Where air is much quicker, but easier to defeat (but too quick to respond to, creating lose and re-cap mechanic) and ground is much slower and harder to defeat, but able to put defenses in place.
A rogue armored BG, is devastating if the platoon is not in order.
We don't tend to see rogue armored bg's at least not once we get into the middile/late part of a map
Early in the campaign you'll see a couple, but after that it just doesn't happen because of the assets we field

Stabilize and exfil is literally what a PJ does. They are personnel recovery not front line doctors/surgeons.
The thing is, there is no reason to exfil basically. I had the suggestion before of adding body bags to the arsenal to add that little bit more roleplay for banshee to bring guys home but don't think I got a response for it.

I get that you’re green now so I intently hold your opinion higher than I would anyone else in this environment but you have to know that this isn’t true on KC due to the medical mods and settings. Should it work that way? Yes. Does it make sense with current limitations for it to be played that way? No. IMO.
I see your further description of ARFR - first aid, pj - paramedic, 1-9 - doctor and though I can understand where you’re coming from due to arma 3 settings “medic vs. Doctor” but that’s not really supported by irl accuracy nor how it is commonly played in KC lib. For a final note on that:
The “line medic” is not a medic irl. They are the most senior / comfortable rifleman with CLS/TCCC and they perform initial stabilization.
1-9 is a SOCM trained pmed, he holds an actual civilian paramedic certification and is trained in some surgical procedures and has pharmacological capabilities similar to that of a civ physician assistant.
Banshee (pj) holds the same if not a bit more medical training to that of a SOCM trained pmed. Pj’s generally have A LOT more CSAR - RESCUE - extraction training than a SOCM, but generally speaking hold very similar medical training to that of a SOCM.
With all of that said, if you and other administration / community staff want to see this game played in the way you’re describing I would further clarify that in SOP’s (if it’s not already), or provide enforcement of this model via. Escalating strikes. Because at this point, as far as I can tell, banshee are just additional 1-9’s that are more comfortable in the shit (becuase there’s more rifles in the team), and they can’t fix fractures.

But for about 4 years of my career I was a site cadre of the us SOCM program I have a tiny little bit of insight on their training and capabilities. I don't really agree. I've found it very useful for stalker, and im pretty sure a lot of airbozos used it when it was allowed. Also when we were able to use it on the server, nothing of the sorts happened that I've witnessed.

the iron dome? yea ive heard the kajman spawns below the Sea Sparrow so its not able to engage, but also it could be the iron dome got nuked before. a cwis on the beach prolly could take down a couple kajmans with enough ammo
The iron dome has it's target depression locked at 30 degrees and above, and which means the helicopter has to be flying pretty much above it to fire
When they spawn far, the iron dome is simply unable to look down to the degree that is needed to fire
is there a specific reason we use the Iron Dome over vanilla? I placed the vanilla Mk49 Spartan and Praetorian 1C on a hill near Ops & they had -25 degrees depression on targets from 0,0 albeit they dumped missiles till 1 impacted, they killed everything

It has a lot to do with the background work Fleur did a long while ago to make the Iron Dome do the correct math's to intercept incoming fires reliably.
It also has a lot to do with the mindset for Lib that Richy mentioned: they want manned things doing the brunt of the work. They don't like automated stuff unless there's no other way to do it, hence iron dome. A long time ago it used to have a range of 10km, but it was cut back to 6km for balance reasons.
yea rog, im proding if its possible to upgrade the Ops Base Iron Dome so the bug causing the Kajman's to spawn behind us at 0,0 becomes no threat to the EWR which constantly gets hit whenever built at ops base
The iron dome when it works is quite good, it's just that requires a very specific set of circumstances and positioning for that to occur
i saw the Iron Dome definitely has a different missile flight path, so thats seriouisly awesome if its able to intercept missiles in Arma like it does IRL big ups to Fluer

Ya @lapis oyster we tried 3DMA both for Lib and for KOG. The models are not optimized very well for Arma 3.
During testing, we had an average 10-30 fps drop when there were like 4 or 5 of those scrim helmets within your view
It's better now, but it even says it in the workshop page. The models are not optimized and will cause performance issues when a lot are used

I think it would be best to get that as opposed to give everyone the option

I think the balance is quite fair atm. Forests can hide an entire squad from butcher's view and we've had them surprise our inf push. There's CQB within OBJs. Armor is able to effectively deal with enemy armor and majority of inf outside the objective so yall can move in to kick some doors

There are usually a handful of survivors lingering around, and if they're not eliminated, that BG isn't destroyed
That is a major reason why sending a single squad to try and stop them is rather ineffective
If you're lucky, they may prevent a BG from taking a point, but they'll never wipe them out, and you'll never get the benefit of reducing enemy awareness

balancing the enemy over a bunch of apaches, abrams, and bradleys makes things worse for the infantry
We seriously don’t have any air assets right now. Stalker should not be getting to used to jinking MiGs. I think it’s at a good place till reaper becomes available

They have thermoberic hellfires to my knowledge, they can’t even kill a tank
im pretty sure they can but cant hit em in the front, i could be wrong

Yea the demon I was working with were struggling to lock their sensors onto the tank, the gunner had to manually slew the missiles which didn’t help
Ngl all 5 of those birds are close to useless in comparison to an AH-1Z or some Reapers & Hatchet helis
Distance from Ops Base to AO is making Little Bird runs a little tiring, flying so slow and having to refuel after 2 trips

deniland is pretty good there arent crazy amounts of objects
FPS has been pretty good on my end
and its all like base arma stuff
its chenarus + takistan assets or vanilla pretty much
the things I'd done earlier also worked but I did run into a few issues so hopefully I find a good software for GPU control to rectify that
