With the recent changes to the Progression system; I have been loving the new way we can work with the cap system to improve and distribute money to our underdeveloped players. I want to first say that the improvements are incredibly welcome and that I commend the league in their approach to try and find a way to improve a system that was a struggle the first couple seasons on the new game.
But there are still concerns that can be found in this — Particularly in the situation of UDFAs, late draft entries, and players stuck in limbo being pre-S21 draftees.
My proposal/suggestion is to instituting a Tier System akin to the progression system we had in 2K8;
My idea of this follows In-Game Overall — This has shown to be probably the biggest thing that we can accurately measure a player’s value as compared to Contract; seeing as some players have 1-2 million dollar contracts with very low overalls.
My Suggestion:
Tier III: Player Overall under 75:
Gets SFLm Banked Money Amount & Discounted Prices on Progression Points.
Tier II: Player Overall between 75 - 85:
Gets SFLm Banked Money Amount but has SFL Progression Prices.
Tier I: Player Overall 85 and Higher:
Standard SFL Progression Banked Amount & Prices.
— The idea is to create a feeling for newer players that their player will be progressing and building into a decent build but as soon as they leave the SFLm or Developmental Team; they are not thrown out without a life vest.
— Added bonus; The League could designated all Tier III Players as SFLm Developmental Players or could still apply the UDFA players as ineligible.
This way it allows for all new players, including UDFAs, who pay their subs to be allowed to progress at a similar rate to the players in regard to their in-game values.
