I have a pretty nice desk that I got because my father saw it on a site
it's fully electric
oh
I love it
what country are you in?
there is uhm
don't know that much about turkey
I don
but they make DESK ON DESK
don't know what brand this is
mostly..
wacht je spreekt Nederlands?
El Pringle Single is van de partner π
hoe bedoel je?
oh ok
i know bit of german and that's about it
oh and, ciao
i have been wanting to learn italian.
so you could finally make Pizza recipes without being ridiculed for not being Italian
actually italian seems like a straight forward language if you're just going to rock basics
they only use like.. 20 letters.
german is hard
mdr
yeah the whole artikel thing
i just can't get my head around it heavily.
guess it builds up with time but becomes harder to learn when it's not built around your mother tongue
dutch seems a bit more stripped down IDK
it is
Dutch is a weird language with a lot of exceptions for a lot of words
my English has developed to be better than my Dutch
speaking perfect turkish with EN layout is also bit problematic lol
like those german letters, you gotta find their places
it's a hell to type in French with EN layout
now imagine having %60 keyboard.
o h h e l l n o
yeah i would never do less than TKL
87 keys is the least i'm shooting for if not it's definitely 108 or whatever.
I have TKL, don't need the extra keys
same, never use numpad
besides topre makes a standalone numpad
maybe ghetto one after you buy a TKL..
maybe if I ever want to advance in Blender or something
it might be useful
but until then
TKL is fine
buy small hercules DJ turntable, re-map the whole thing to use as streaming deck
big brain.
that way you get a pad controller with turntable and a streaming deck out of one device.
i don't have doubts that it could be confusing though
gonna need legit big brain.
indeed
chair is btw a TecTake trinity I got for β¬40
a steal
compared to β¬110 new
it still smells fresh
so it wasn
wasn't used much
@devout ivy it broke? The viper
Thanks for the love everybody.. sorry i got back so late i been doing overtime at the job
dnag
notice how he has a massive american flag and under it everything is made in china.
(:
So? You can be proud of the country you're from without only owning stuff from that country
LF a secondary monitor that can pivot to 90*. thats literally the only requirement. suggestions? ping me plz π
Pivot which direction, so it is portrait? if so I like my Asus one
@noble oak @alpine charm tbh I think the bigger let down of that build is that the RGB light isn't red, white and blue lol π
@alpine charm niceeeeeee
I love the danish for creating my mouse, mousepad and headset
they're all awesome
love from the Netherlands
seems like the angle of lighting is different the pink looks significantly better in that regard
I like the pink, i feel like it would be less distracting... and i just like pink lol
I need Mac Pro
Whether it's a wise one...
@noble oak better get working and investing wisely, then
For some people a Mac Pro makes sense
Not very many
But for a few it does
I just miss the good old days when Apple made great laptops with fantastic keyboards
The 16" is supposed to be great but I really don't like it
im expecting that computer to be able to run tom clancys six siege max settings and with 500fps
ok when your name is βhackerpro2007β i wouldnt say you βneedβ a mac pro
Is a AMD RADEON RX 5700 Xt compatible with a dq67sw and a intel i7-2600
Yes
Although you should be aware of some of the driver problems the 5700xt is having
Should I get the 2060 instead then?
Not sure the 5700xt outperforms
Driver issues aren't a problem for all users so you can take the chance I guess with the 5700xt
@timid wasp if you're deciding between the 5700XT and a 2060 go with the 5700XT for more performance. The AMD drivers are pretty messed up rn although they don't effect everyone and you might not have any problems at all. On top of that, drivers can be fixed in the near future so I'd say it's worth it for the better performing card
okay thank you
you should be fine if you install older drivers on AMD's website, that's what I did
@noble oak steelseries mouse would make it the best it can be
Waaaait a minute
@oak burrow What monitor is that?
How'd you get a picture of my setup? :D
I suspect we use the exact same monitor, mousepad and keyboard
@oak burrow is that the Samsung Ultrawide?
@tribal silo might be that one :)
49" 32:9 monitor
i was thinking of getting the samsung ultrawide
Is it any good for gaming on
especially in a split screen aspect
ok
yeah
Yeah, seems like a good choice for an ultrawide
And I def prefer playing wide over normal
i mean especially for things like video editing
They recently announced a new version at CES I think
with 1440p resolution
If you want even more pixels
i might wait and see then
And it comes in this crazy looking white
Looks like something out of Star Wars
I think the curve is bigger on the new one
what sort of graphics card do you think is capable of running at the best frames and refresh rates?
(Still comes in black though)
I'm using a 2080ti
But I also like to run high settings and having 100+ FPS
Gigabyte actually :D
oh nice
the white makes it look so good on the monitor
is the gigabyte worth the price?
I'm no expert on that honestly
ok
It's a lot of money that's for sure
yeah
But I think I'd say yes
I mean if this was at CES i may aswell just wait for its release
@chilly edge knows a lot about it than me
yeah
But I doubt it will be cheap
1440p x2 at 240Hz
easily over 1,000
probably best to get the graphics card now and then just wait and see what the price will be
yeah
not a massive downgrade with the current model i guess
My only real issue with it is that the edges get a bit soft
Like the edge of the screen in the sides
If I have discord on the left then some times I can't quite tell if there's a new message on a server
You can if you look at it straight on
right ok
Just a little add in bonus info: when you split the monitor you can also go 21:9+10:9
oh that's nice
didn't realise thought was only 16:9
is it easy to split the monitor?
well thanks for the info, hopefully they release the new model soon
Yw :)
Coming soon :)
With arctis 7 k68 rgb and Razer mamba chroma and Polaris rgb
@weak vapor lol some specs same with me
bruh my wii has the same specs
Which specs ?
of the image
yes
Whats your specs ?
Operating system: Wii system software
CPU: 729 MHz IBM PowerPC "Broadway"[13]
Memory: 88 MB (total), 24 MB MoSys 1T-SRAM, 324 MHz, 2.7 GB/s bandwidth
Storage : 512 MB Internal flash memory
Removable storage: SD/SDHC card
Graphics : 243 MHz ATI "Hollywood"[13]
@pulsar fossil Yes, it is!
I LOVE it
xD
In combination with the Apex Pro, the Rival 600 and the QcK, it is simply the perfect gaming setup π
Do you know how I activate the ambient light behind the screen?
@noble oak why did you react to everything? Little odd, isn't it?

@spare elk lol π alright. Thanks
3xl mousepad just like @spare elk suggested

Nice

theoretical: if i was going to sell my m750 SS keyboard, would anyone be interested in buying it? view in pics above
Anyone playing with the Valve Index?
Should I buy a 60 % keyboard or a tkl keyboard
Not sure which to chose, I like the Ducky One 2 Mini but also SteelSeries Apex pro tkl and Razer Huntsman TE
Not to be bias but Apex Pro is pretty hot π
so which chair should I get, I am looking for either DXRacer, maxnomic, or secret lab
get a secret lab and get a tkl keyboard
get the steeseries apex pro tkl
razer's only good if you have everything else razer
Nice PC you got there
i would recommend a bigger mousepad, though I wish steelseries had a 3xl mousepad, since I am a fan of their brand, but they don't have the sized mousepad I want
thats literally a massive mousepad but he would rather have his keyboard on it and monitor literally on top of his mouse
my desk is pretty big, so the mousepad fits on it without me having to place monitor on top of my mousepad
I mean that is a pretty small desk, so the mousepad is a good sized, but I have a desk that is like 50$ from ikea and I can put a 3xl on it
why do you need that big of a mousepad
The bigger the better
oh yeah ima build a pc in late 2020 probably in november do you think Ryzen 4000 series, Nvidia Ampere cards and ddr5 ram will be out by then?
just play on the ground and have a giant mousepad line your floor, replacing your carpet
@cunning scaffold I'd prob hold off on planning anything based on new hardware releases because of all the coronavirus stuff. There's a very good chance that all the trade shows and reveal events for Ryzen 4000 and new Nvidia stuff will be delayed/postponed
@cunning scaffold ddr5 i doubt tbh.
but would a b450 mobo support ddr5
Nope
DDR5 will likely have a different pin layout
And possibly go beyond what a b450 can handle in terms of frequency
so x570 and above?
DDR5 will most likely require an entirely new generation of MOBOs to support it, and besides that it's still a long way off
We probably won't even see DDR5 until Ryzen 5000, but combined with all the coronavirus stuff it could be even later than that
anyone have an oculus quest by chance?
so 2021-2023 for ddr5?
Who knows
I will most likely be building a pc in the summer. Which parts should I get? I'm thinking of a pc under 500$, since it will be my first pc.
@narrow panther check this out https://pcpartpicker.com/list/M9CFYH
i wasted money on overpriced corsair shit
big oof
I think we need to get through the apocalypse first @cunning scaffold π¬
yeah i hope the apocalypse ends so i can get a job to buy pc parts
@cunning scaffold not only is that list overpriced, but there are some poor choices
Well, over budget
ok i did my best the price range is now $510-535 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Rwkqwh
Nice
Das hot
and also got g502 lightspeed
Im stuck with 640 graphics card and wired g502
Dang, this is pretty nice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O2wYLJpwoo

You know it is a good build guide if u see him wearing airpods on thumbnail
Oh yeah btw, Radeon uses these weird numbers like 570, so which one is similar to a 1070?
because Crypt recommended a Radeon graphics card and I did not know if it was good, since I am used to nvidia, aorus, MSI, etc.
Here's my machine too :))
@narrow panther looks like either vega 56 or rx 590 but someone can correct me
and Iβve never run siege but I almost guarantee you dont need that expensive of a build to push 200
^
also i9 why
Hey, has anyone had to replace keycaps on their apex pro?
i'm thinking about one but i'm worried the oversized leds will cause issues
i was told they tend to stick with thicker keycaps, even OEM, like the hyperx ones
tried asking on the subreddit but got no reply, idk where to ask x)
here's a video of the issue too
someone mentioned that DSA/SA keycaps fit, would love to have confirmation
@noble oak I obviously can't make any guarantees but I just tested taking a keycap off the Apex Pro I'm using and replacing it with one from an old Apex M500 and I can't see any problems
The keycap looks identical on the inside
@pulsar fossil ty for testing, the problem seems to concern keys with stabilizers for the most part, like spacebars, did you happen to test one of such keys?
I can
that'd be helpful ty
I like how's there's like a debug header under the spacebar
This message was written with the other spacebar and it works well :)
They seem identical to me
Other than a small difference in the structual support
I was gonna get the HyperX ones but they don't come in the Nordic flavor
US only :(
bummer indeed
still, ty for the help.
at the moment i'm torn between the apex pro, streak pro and gmmk, this will help me decide :)
What's the price on the Streak?
130β¬, it comes with ISO-ITA (which is what i use) unlike the other 2, but has silent reds only
Gotcha
iso-de is close enough anyway
Well it's a balance of the features you need vs price
And quality of course
I haven't tried the two others but I've enjoyed the Apex Pro
Though I don't really use the wristwrest in part because I use a big mousepad underneath
feature wise the apex and streak are head to head:
both have usb passthrough, a wrist rest, volume wheel and are readily available.
people talked about omnipoint switches exclusively positively, though i'm not sure i'd be able to appreciate the finer control it provides.
though i think i might end up regretting silent reds
It's worth noting that not the entire keyboard uses Omnipoint
i got a tester and they feel numb af
i don't think i'd need omnipoint for Fkeys or the numpad anyway so it's good to me
Good, just wanted to point it out :)
gmmk does come with much more selection, maybe even too much, but it has poopy software and terrible font on the keycaps.
if the streak pro was available with the same layout but regular cherry reds i think i'd probably go for it, but in this case it's tougher. x)
oh right i almost forgot, is each key's rgb addressable with the apex pro?
it used not to be the case on release
@noble oak yeah every single key can have a different color set
dope
And you can change all settings per key
You can define base effect (light when in use), reactive layer (what should it do when clicked) and AFK effect (light when not in use)
You can also choose what color caps lock, scroll lock and num lock should change to when active
that's neat :D
when it first launched there were just base effects, the same ones available from the keyboard menu itself
it was said they would've added it afterwards (seems they did!) though haven't heard any news since
Ah, fair
I still wonder why thats not the case on the m750
@noble oak you can buy a barebones GMMK and then get your own Caps and switches
true, however that would be even more expensive and slower, plus i can only find us layout keycaps for the most part
that'd end up costing me ~170-200β¬ if i avoid using gmmk's keycaps (rather than 160) and i'd still want a kailh tester at that point.
plus gmmk's software remains meh at best
ISO-IT keycaps, hm
+ good software
+ good price
+ full layout (no need for separate numpad)
+ iso-ita
+ included wrist rest
~ silent red only (i like reds, silent reds are frustratingly soft, close enough but hmmm)
- no hotswap
GMMK - 160β¬ + 15β¬ for kailh tester
+ amazing switch selection
+ good wrist rest
+ hotswap
+ full layout
+ well priced
~ iso-de, ansi
~ veeery slow delivery
- ugly keycaps, can add 10-40β¬ for different ones off aliexpress
- shitty software
Apex pro - 230β¬
+ omnipoint switches - i like cherry reds and omnipoints would be good for both typing and gaming.
+ included wrist rest
+ good software
+ full layout
+ quick delivery
~ iso-de, ansi
~ below average customer support
~ average build quality
- oversized leds could make it hard to find good keycap replacements, thick keycaps tend to get stuck when bottoming out```
that's my notes
iso-de is fine too tbh, they're reasonably close.
if i were to get separate keycaps then i'd want a few ones with random stuff on them to replace the stuff at the right of the 'PLM' column
So, the symbols
I feel you
Most custom stuff is ANSI/American layout
Even just finding ISO-UK is hard, and that's more common than most other ISO layouts combined
in short, the streak pro has everything i need, but i doubt i'd enjoy silent reds, they feel way too numb.
apex pro is quite expensive and once the abs keycaps fade out it'll be more annoying to find a replacement.
gmmk is a middle ground, with hotswap
but still has cons compared to the streak pro, namely the terrible software
i mean it works but ooooof
that's fnatic's
woah hmm the streak pro just momentarily dropped to 85β¬
now that's a painfully good deal tbh
I have a mini streak, and I've had it for 4 years, Im thinking of upgrading to apex pro tkl
Also do you guys know how to get stretched resolution if I connect a laptop to another monitor?
Also my fnatic mini streak came with brown switches, so I was not limited to only silent reds
yeah it's just due to availability
@narrow panther anything noteworthy about the streak?
software acting up, hardware issues of any kind, how far the wrist rest can go from the space key
i'm torn, cause steelseries' software is a bit better and i'd like omnipoint switches much more. plus customization and tiny cute led screen (i know but damn it's cool).
but the price difference...
idk if it's worth the 145β¬ gap
also how were the keycaps in 4 years of use
I mean, I like it, I had a membrane keyboard at the time, so I wanted a new mechanical keyboard, but I did not know the different types of switches, if I did, I would have picked silent reds, it was like 10 days ago that I realized it was brown switches. The keycaps also have been kept in great shape, so it looks brand new.
hah people tend to bash abs, the streak has cheaply made keycaps too in theory
i'm surprised they held 4 years
but then again my k350 literally has stickers for the letters and none of them faded
They are clean, it's just that when I get o-rings to dampen the sound, I will have to clean the keyboard, since I've only cleaned it twice.
The last time I cleaned it was 2 years ago so yeah.
but yeah both seem fine, though the apex pro is definitely on the cooler side
but at 85β¬ it's hard to justify not getting the streak
I found out on how to get the stretched res
Wait just curious, if you have Nvidia graphics card, can you use intel command center?
i would guess not
though i can't test
one last thing, what's the maximum distance between the spacebar and the wrist rest at its furthest position?
a lot of people have been saying the wrist rest is too close and/or small
I dont use it, but I would estimate like 2 - 3 inches
It is too thick, like if that makes sense. When I put my wrist on it, I can press the space bar, but it will hurt due to my finger being 2 cm above the space bar, so there is more travel distance
with the keyboard raised too?
Yeah
hmm
tbh the wrist rest thing is hard for me to evaluate
since i have a k350
i'm spoiled af
I just learned that u need intel processor 6th gen or above to run the command center, so AMD won't work with it
Our yearly member only sale is about to begin, and this one is our biggest yet!
any info on that? :O
I'm looking at buying another ssd or hdd because gopro videos are waaaaay too big, and also storage is always nice lol. any specific recommendations from anyone?
@narrow panther the command center?
The intel control pannel was renewed as the intel command center
Ohh
yeah you dont need that for amd...
I kinda want to try OCing my ryzen but i dont want to kill it and i doubt ill feel a diff
I played on native resolution, now setretched feels much better imo'
guys I just got a mouse bungee, it is a lamp, I round my cable around it and boom, not so effective, but good mouse bungee.
but like that defeats the whole point
Ik
because I dont have a mouse bungee
I save up for other peripherals, I buy it last.
Imagine mouse bungee on hyperglides
@narrow panther mind if i ask you for further help regarding your streak?
i ended up getting one too and my keycaps have a weird issue
did you ever notice anything similar?
cause i'm thinking about asking for a refund and getting a streak pro instead
what appears to be the issue?
the keys are somewhat sticky, unless i'm very precise when pressing each key down it will rumble/vibrate as it's being pressed
and it's absolutely terrible
though i cant really capture than on camera
it's like there's some sort of glue film on top of each keycap
i never this sort of thing happen, not once i've felt keycaps so bad. this includes all library/school/public keyboards on top of my own
i can only imagine the keyboard was left in storage for years (unusual layout, iso-ita, prolly not many sales) and this is the result
though between getting a keycap set and refunding + apex pro i'm leaning towards the latter
since at that point i'm spending a lot anyway x)
i'm mostly wondering if someone with a streak pro or apex pro noticed anything similar to this
@noble oak My keys are wobbly, but they do not make that noise, also, yes, the keys are sticky on mine too. Also, where did you buy it?
amazon
oh that's odd, i asked a few other people and they seem to know nothing about the keys being sticky
does it happen that they kinda vibrate as you're pressing them down?
Not really, they are just wobbly
That could be because there are no stabilizers
My friend, who has stabilizers on a keyboard makes it less wobbly
i mean they use cherry stems, keys that need it like enter or space do have stabilizers
atm i asked their support, i'll wait up to a week for a reply
if they can fix it then nice, otherwise ill go for the apex pro
cause it feels kinda terrible
it's similar to how your phone vibrates, but at random when pressing the key down
For me, if you take the keycap off, the switches do feel wobbly if you move it gently
though i really like the silent red switches now that i have a full kb with them
do you have a switch tester?
No, but I do have another keyboard
True
i may as well
I would recommend Hyperx pbt pudding key caps, if steelseries makes keycaps, I would buy them.
good keycaps are closer to 40-60β¬
i have my eyes set on a kit i really like
which comes with a few novelty keys to replace the ones like Γ¨+Γ²Γ ΓΉ-
since looking for iso-ita keycaps is impossible apparently
There are key caps from hyperx that are 18 euros to 23 euros
yeh but i really dont like having keys that dont math with what they do
i'd rather have random symbols instead
i mean, tai hao has some nice key caps
i'd put the random symbols on the right
Banggood also has some nice key caps, but the shipping time is pretty long
those would be 'just' 31β¬
5 week shipping
for a total of 116β¬
though i would then be tempted to instead go for the apex at 195β¬
and just seal the deal
I might get a apex pro tkl on my bday
mostly as a matter of principle tbh
Just for the fastest switches
btw
i thought the streak would let u choose the color of each key
:O
i couldnt find the option
(nor i could find how to remove a macro tbh)
I uninstalled the fnatic op software and re installed it
takes a bit of time, but it removes it
at least for me
smh
Also
if you buy the streak from the official fnatic website, it lets you choose your switches
Yeah
silent reds feel good anyway, i thought i would've disliked em
but i dont mind at all
though tbh anything after 8+ years of k350 would feel good
in terms of switches
(ergo-wise the k350 is a slapper)
Im getting o rings to reduce sounds on my streAK
oh yeah silent red is reeeeally quiet
Ik
plus i dont have a heavy keypress at all
I would have got silent reds and also put o rings on it
e.e
but yeah if fnatic's support fixes the problem reasonably well, i'll stick with it
otherwise apex pro
asked but help on the mechkeys server and oh boi that was a shitstorm
everyone kept suggesting stuff that either wasn't what i needed or was actually impossible to buy x)
I also have an idea to why it makes that noise
possibly your hands are either too sweaty
When I washed my hands, it reduced the noise
But that's just me
nope, tried with freshly washed and dried hands
it's 100% the keys
btw i was wondering, does the apex pro have a shortcut to mute audio?
the tiny button below the audio wheel has play/pause, forward and backward
can the audio wheel be pressed down to mute/unmute? :O
then it has no mute button?!
to adjust actuation point etc
i'd expect hold to menu
press once to mute
actually no you hold the button below it to enter the menu
2 tap forward 3 tap backward hold menu
im just assuming the audio wheel can be pressed like a mouse scroll wheel
but i'd like confirmation if someone happens to have the apex pro
i had the pleasure to try razer basilisk v2
with the new optical switches
it felt crazy good to click
razer g502
i had to replace it cause the software just wouldn't work
I have logitech g502 rn
and changed to g604
which feels good but nowhere near as much
though despite that the g604 is definitely a keeper
added RGB in my PC yesterday
nice
rip
looks kinda cosy
I had to move home again π¦
Working from here for the next month or so
Same here. Had to move back home from University for a few weeks but probably the rest of the semester. Good thing I took my whole setup with me
Should I get Drop x Sennheiser HD 58x Jubilee? I am a fan of open back headphones as well as SteelSeries. I am having trouble picking which one. (If SteelSeries will make Open back headphones then I will most likely buy it)
@narrow panther They are great, so I guess you can't go wrong with getting them
Ok
so I tried to fix my ram speed as it was running at 2133mhz. bumped to 3200mhz in bios and it wouldnt post, fun times
Dont need O-rings for that probably
but imagine it
I just cleaned my keyboard
feels like brand new
RGB just became much brighter
hi
I need a motherbord for a intel core i5 2400 and a dell optiplex 745 case dm me
what even
Im building a pc soon, finally can enjoy games without a low fps
Noice
@noble oak that so nice! It is evident that u are a batman fan haha
It is nice indeed
More than nice i'd say
Btw did you move the keyboard to the centre of mouse only for photo or you play like that always?
He must play like that haha
I see batman everywhere haha
This is humble setup at night.
Its not much but took me a year of hardwork to buy all of these stuff.
Thank you!
My setup few months ago. I cant send a picture of how it looks like now bc the quality is too bad ;p
My pc is nice ?
no
It's parts
@noble oak that so nice! It is evident that u are a batman fan haha
@noble oak Ahah yes indeed I am. I changed recently the mousepad for a even larger one recently and the keyboard is at this spot
no
xD?
haha
everyone has like high end pc and i play on i7 2600k and gtx 1050 ti lul
not bad
i just upgraded from amd fx 6300 and gtx 1050 ti
I used to play on a 1050 Ti like you (laptop even) but then I took a 2080 Ti to the knee
so much money
dont worri mi fryends, mi plays on 640 graphics card, not evin clos to 1050ti men, I suffer and ai battle depression until mi build pc
@pulsar fossil dats expensive
like almost twice the price of mine
@narrow panther i used to play on an ati radeon 4300 hd sooo
@fast jewel it is a good chunk of change
Lol ππ€£π€£π€£
@noble oak nice pc build
where does everyone have their pc set up? mine's a mid tower so it won't fit on my desk and the only other place I can put it forces the back against the wall so airflow is horrible.
wot ok
honestly on the floor ....
though my desk is pulled a 0.5-1 feet back from the wall
nice name @fast jewel
ah ok. and thanks lol
you know i pioneered the "fanOf" prefix in this server a long time ago
You mind taking a pic?
I use a motorised desk, so I have mine on the desk
@fast jewel yup. maybe you can share some ideas of your setup
damn 2070 super is expensive
my 1060 is broken and i need an upgrade
i have i5 9600k at 4.8ghz
any tips?
ok where does the 16 series fit in? I see tons of comparison charts but most don't even have that series
also rtx is pretty dang cool
In between the two generations
alright cool
hides in a corner with his 2080ti
@pulsar fossil
Well, did you buy it yourself?
But thinking of going 2060 or 2070
Yeah
Well you work for steelseries so you got them cash..
my laptop has a ryzen 5 3550h, is that any good?
and two gpus, one is an rx560x and the other is vega 8 graphics
it has like 8gb of ram also
I'm using a laptop with the R7 3750H and the only difference between the r7 and r5 is a slight speed increase with the 7. It runs anything I throw at it (games, video editing, etc.) really smooth. I haven't had any problems with it. Mine has a GTX1650 which is leagues better than the 560x so the gaming performance will be worse on the GPU side, but if you aren't trying to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider on high or ultra settings or similarly GPU demanding games you should have a good experience @left kiln
Also 8GB of RAM is fine for most general things and even gaming a lot of the time, but if you have the money I'd get a 16GB kit and upgrade it
Pretty much, yeah. The laptop should be able to switch between the vega 8 (iGPU) and RX560X (dGPU) depending on the program you're running or whether it's plugged in or running off battery power, but they're both pretty low-tier
Is it from the ASUS TUF line or another brand?
yep asus tuf
That's the brand I have, but I went with the 17 inch model for the better CPU + GPU lol
Yeah the CPU is fine. Like I said there's basically no difference between the 5 and 7 expect for the 7 being slightly faster
ok
Other than that they have the same core count and everything
A lot of people use the desktop version for budget PC builds because of the price to performance. I'm not really sure about the laptop variant though. Then again the 3550h and 3750h are first gen Ryzen mobile so the 4000 series will improve on pretty much everything
the laptop i am currently using is the asus tuf FX705dy-eh53 gaming laptop
This is the model I have. Apparently Best Buy isn't selling new ones anymore which is interesting https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-fx705dt-17-3-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1650-512gb-solid-state-drive-black/6338253.p?skuId=6338253
yeah they are sold out
i just checked my model, it is also out of stock
i purchased this laptop from a different website, but i forgot where i got it from
it came with a bundle a mouse, a mousepad, and a headset
rog peripherals?

@sharp rover I don't work for SteelSeries :)
Only people with the staff role works for them
does anyone even use ryzen 5?
@ChChilled#1828 r5 1600 here ... (sr for double ping)

@sharp rover Discord wise I'm just a part of the community :)

They invited me/us :)

but i have a bunch of rgb fans on it also from cooler master
@viscid knoll pc specs? And monitor? AOC by chance?
@viscid knoll and is that the 600 or 650?
thanks
why buy windows?
also the m750 is outdated, go for apex 7 if budget allows
@viscid knoll @lost cairn
true
OS X is better than Windows 10
ew no
Depends on what you use it for
@noble oak don't forget that they changed the name to macOS :P
way better for content creation stuff imo but for gaming n stuff? heck nah
With fear of sounding like an Apple fanboy: macOS is better than Linux..
Aalto Talk with Linus Torvalds, hosted by Aalto Center for Entrepreneurship in Otaniemi on June 14, 2012. Linus was interviewed by Will Cardwell and followed with a Q&A session with the audience. We had fun!
Event producer Zaira Mammadova. Video produced by...
honestly though, ubuntu has gotten loads better
i'd use it if it would like
work with my gpu without nouveau
@pulsar fossil you clearly don't know what you're talking about... π
@dark linden okay π€·ββοΈ
Linux is great for servers if not fantastic
But not a great choice for desktop use. Especially not if you're looking for an OS that you don't wanna tinker with
First of all you can't compare a product which is sold with a fixed hardware in mind against an open source project...
If people are dumb doesn't mean that we are allowed to follow up the nonsense...
There's no problem with comparing software stability, functionality, support etc between Windows, macOS and Linux
Linux is made for who actually understands how a computer works, macOS has in mind mainly accessibility and 3 specific type of professionals...
One is made from a community for the community...the other one is a commercial product...
with the pro and the cons of being a commercial product...
Absolutely
it's like comparing apple and oranges...both are fruit but with sensible completely different properties and taste
and both Apple and Oranges are fruit
And look, I'm not saying Linux is bad in any way
I'm just saying there's very few people in the mainstream for whom Linux makes sense
you said macOS is better than Linux...
For most people
it wasn't in your comment to the link
otherwise I wouldn't even had answered the way I did
You can never say that one OS is better for every single person than the other
Linux surely is not made for mainstream as some distro bakers tried to push in the past...
Unless it's hot garbage like that community reverse engineered version of Windows
but macOS surely is not made for everyone as well...it implies people clearly not wanting to think.
There's an ongoing enforcing on nonsense in macOS which is making it hard to enjoy for me...
Actually I disagree with the notion that macOS is for "simplicities sake"
You can tinker a lot with it if you want
Almost as much as with Linux
I don't know...as an app developer I find new restrictions each year...
I use macOS for work, and every year everything is made a lot simpler and a lot buggier...
I passed from unconditional love to unconditional WFT π
It's just my opinion that unless you're a very specific person Linux doesn't make any sense for desktop use
it's the same for macOS...for the rest of the world Windows is still the most sensible choice
macOS is a lot more user friendly
agreed
Like a lot a lot
ubuntu has gotten really user friendly in the past year or so though
I disagree, but let's agree on disagreeing ;)
oh sure, I'm not trying to convert you. After 8 years of working on it I made a clear idea, that's it.
:)

I put 2 o rings on my space, wasd, shift, ctrl, and many other keys and if feels quite good
Feels like the actuation point got lowered
from 45 to like 41
i also had another keyboard but that was a cheaper one
i replaced the keycaps on my m400 with doubleshot PBT ones
just today actually
awesomeee
I really wanna get the Apex 7 but it's just too much for rn
even with the sale
I would get the Apex 5 but I just can't do blues. They're wayyy too loud for my household at night
because 1;they look better 2;they last longer 3;they feel better
m400 was a thing last year or something
great
cheap
silent
if the Apex 5 came with reds or browns, I would've bought it already
tbh
I just can't be loud at night
Artics 9x is good
Thatβs the only steelseries product I got
And the XXXL mousepad
Not rgb
does anyone know what the M400 switches are equivalent to?
kalih switches i think
just saw on reddit that its a cherry mx red clone
certainly quiet
sadly you cant buy it (new)
i think
it was 50 dollars US when i bought it (about)
yeah i love SS keyboards but their keycaps are bad compared to the switches and SSE (their keycaps are not terrible)
they are just the laser engraved ABS keycaps i think
which means they rub off eventually and start to feel ehh
but the software makes me not mind spending 20-50 dollars on keycaps
you can customize every key on the keyboard excluding the function key
i think
(dont kill me mee6)
I fricking love my Alloy FPS Pro from HyperX
it was on sale for β¬60 on bol.com
I love blues, but my friends hate them
still love my Arctis 7, Rival 600 and QcK Edge

yikes
Time for a new desk + cabel management
Samsung 49" ultrawide
3840x1080
144 Hz
Can be split into two
It's basically two 27" monitors put together
split into 2?
Show two 1080p inputs
Except there isn't any bezel
Does it use dual video cables or just one?
thats rather darn fancy, might take a look into that
Why show 3 monitors if it is equivalent to 2
@pulsar fossil looks great. However, not sure you have a big enough screen. id look into investing in a bigger one π
@pulsar fossil what is the lighting effect your using on the apex pro?
I have 1 27" monitor, 60 Hz and that is plenty for me. Though I will be most likely getting a 27" 240 Hz Monitor or a 24" 240 Hz Monitor. Most likely going for 27", however if I don't find a good deal on it, I will buy a 24 " Monitor.
I'm looking at a Samsung 27" CRG5 240Hz Curved Gaming Monitor
for 400 dollars, so not bad
Also I will finally have a dual monitor setup, so I will get notified if anyone @ me on discord
Btw @celest schooner That screen is huge, most people have a regular 24" monitor, which is way smaller than that monitor.
@sweet sparrow don't have space
For cable management? :p
@narrow panther lol I was being sarcastic. Lennart has the biggest monitor screen I have ever seen
@pulsar fossil what GPU do you use to run that beast decently?
@dark linden 2080 Ti
Uh, does it hold well with that huge resolution? I am still undecided between 2 IPS 240Hz and a single 21:9 144Hz...I want more space for working rather than gaming...but the recent support of Doom, AoE and many other games to the extended res makes the option interesting...
noice...that's interesting
Just asking jeez
Claw
@low vigil and he answered? I don't think he meant it in any negative way :)
unless the mouse underneath is a big ball π
You guys say claw but when I Google claw I get this
Mine is a claw but my pinky is on the right grip side and my middle finger is on the scroll wheel, for easy bhops, therefore my ring finger is on mouse 2
@low vigil the googled picture is actualy claw,
but the first looks more like a palm
it might be a palm-claw hybrid
For me a hibrid is where your fingers touch the very front of the buttons, but the middle of your fingers dont touch it at all if that makes sense
So I dont think it is fingertip
i do palm grip but I can see yours working too - just not on mine as it also has a rest area for ring finger
So Iβm a console gamer and I really want to switch to PC, were should I start?
In terms of building one?
Determine your budget and what you wanna be able to achieve with it
First you need a pc or a laptop, or a monitor, then focus on Peripherals such as mouse, keyboard, headphones, etc. Then focus on upgrading your PC so you can run games at decent fps
Also I agree with Lennart
Well my budget right now would be about $800-$950, and all I want to do is be able to talk to my friends and run decently sized games at decent fps.
Decent*
Check out Joey Delgado, he builds pc's that fits your budget, I recommend you check out his $900 Build, or $800 build.
In his $900 build, he assumes you know how to build a pc, as he skips and cuts most of the tutorial to save time

Ok, thank you so much. This helps me out A TON and will save me lots of time in the future
There are plenty of tutorials online though that are very good at explaining things for beginners. A couple channels I would recommend checking out are LinusTechTips (build guide series) and JayzTwoCents @languid marten
Ok thank you guys so muchπ
You're welcome
@languid marten I'm not a pro but my friend and I would be more than willing to help you along the way
Hi I am switching to pc from xbox and I do not know what parts to get the games Im going to play on pc are Call of duty, overwatch, and gta, Do you guys have any recommendations for me
yes I am
Does a bigger pc run better
?
I already have a mouse keyboard and a monotor
i just ordered the Arctis pro wireless
No, a smaller pc can run just fine, it is just that you need to get a better graphics card to get higher frame rates
Look at Joey Delgado, or the video above, he makes quality pc's for every type of budget
@narrow panther thanks
You're welcome
how much ram do i need
Depends on what you want to use it for
is 16gb good
so if im going to play overwatch and call of duty and gta how much ram would i need
Also, if your MOBO has 4 ram slots, make sure they are not side by side, because if you get 16GB of ram, and you place it wrong, it will only read 8GB of ram
Ok what is MOBO
I not that savy on computers
ok thanks
the mother board im thinking about is the asus B450 F
It depends on which processor you use
Different MOBO have different pin slots
Or Chipset I should say
so do they make a 1tb ssd
ok
Also about the Ram, if you want to stream or be a content creator, then you might need more Ram to assist you with bigger files
Samsung 970 EVO, less space, but fast
so this one
Yes
The one with less space is cheaper
on sale about $80
but it is your choice on how much storage you want on it
yeah once I fnish my list of parts ill send it if you want
