Reason: Bad word usage
lmao y
ahahahah
@noble oak are you serious?
Lmao joke
Yay, new PC time
i9-9900K, RTX2080ti, 32GB RAM, 1 nvme SSD with 1,92TB
Should be fun
I would pick the 3900X and not change the rest ๐
^
^
@pulsar fossil what the heck are you doing with a system that powerful?
wouldn't the production company supply the computers?
@muted viper Minecraft in 4k? :p
Jk
I'll be using it for gaming (obviously), video editing and streaming
That's why I would pick the 3900X over the 9900K all day long...
also, for 4k resolution the 9900K gives no tangible advantage, in GPU constrained environments Intel loses it's 2% lead (which is nothing really significant even in CPU constrained situations).
Consider also that streaming while playing flips the coin in favour of AMD atm...
Intel has some PP specific features AMD doesn't have
PP?
for the quicksync stuff?
honestly I don't know if that thing alone is worth the trade...but you surely know better than me what you need ๐
Yeah
Is sending pictures broken for anyone else on Android 10? I have to click the arrow and select gallery to send pictures.
Through Discord
The app is fully updated and I tried reinstalling it
Probably Android 10. My phone is running 7 with Discord fully updated and I get the normal gallery without having to go into the file explorer
Yeah that's my guess
Not happening on my Pixel 3 with Android 10
@pulsar fossil what are some of the PP features?
@celest schooner he was referring to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video
Intel Quick Sync Video is Intel's brand for its dedicated video encoding and decoding hardware core. Quick Sync was introduced with the Sandy Bridge CPU microarchitecture on 9 January 2011, and has been found on the die of Intel CPUs ever since.
The name "Quick Sync" refers t...
ah gotcha. thanks!
It's a feature of Intel CPUs which Premiere Pro uses and gives shorter encoding times because uses an INtel architectural feature
but honestly I still think that the benefit is minimal compared to the use of the 3900X, I think Lennart uses a lot Premiere Pro and needs often to have as much content as possible ready and as fast as possible ๐
quick sync would not be exclusive to premiere pro right? just all editing software in general? or no?
Some software's take advantage of it and some don't. It depends if the devs programed in support, but it's a feature on Intel CPUs
Honestly AMD is better for the price more software takes advantage of Intel specific features
like virtualization
@celest schooner it's honestly mostly just that one feature. And the streaming software I use is more optimized for Intel (vMix)
@pulsar fossil which software is it?
@dark linden vMix
Oh! It was between the brackets. Thanks, I'm looking for streaming software but I've never tried any...
@pulsar fossil jeez, it's a bit demanding as software (even from the licensing point of view)...do you feel like it could be better or is it completely worth the money?
@dark linden it's totally worth the money
But it's mostly for bigger Productions
1 person game streams doesn't make as much sense
not even the 60$ tier? Even if I'd like to play around with some features...any accessible alternative which is not xSplit?
What are you looking for in a first-time stream software that you canโt get in the free tools?
@hallow wagon reliability through the updates...I've had bad experiences and I don't stream a lot, I do it mostly for fun or for sharing new games with friends when it's my turn to beta test a new IP. But sometimes I had huge let-downs which ruined my experience, a patch and everything starts mis-behaving. Unless there's a free tool or a reliable configuration which I missed...I'm open to links/tutorials/suggestions...
I am also curious to see how much the experience and the possibilities added from moving from a freemium to a fully fledged solution.
on regular OBS? that's really strange... I heard that a lot with StreamlabsOBS but not with the 'real' one.
(My last job was in broadcast software tools, I heard about lots of SLOBS/OBS/Xsplit bugs along the way)
Well...I used Xsplit because with my new Asus laptop I had 1 year of subscription for free
(maybe new is a big word now...it's already into the 18th month and technology flies ๐ )
Oh, I meant OBS for the free tools, lol.
Not like 'free trial paid tool'
but a true free broadcast software.
I have to say that it wasn't a compelling experience...I'd like something with a non uselessly pompous UI and a better core behind the interface...
Mmm...never passed through those ones
do you have any useful link?
I've been using OBS for... 5 years now, with various plugins and stuff and have never felt the need to jump for a solo stream environment.
Bigger production, yes, but not for an individual streamer.
Yeah, one sec!
Thanks a lot! ๐
OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is free and open source software for video recording and live streaming. Stream to Twitch, YouTube and many other providers or record your own videos with high quality H264 / AAC encoding.
I (currently) use this with the StreamElements plugin - lets you do a little more dashboard monitoring / stream editing on the fly, but I'm new to using that and can't fully recommend yet
I used to work for a streaming graphics company pre-SteelSeries, so I've tried a little bit of everything whether for my own use or just filming tutorials, and I always come home to OBS. LOL.
Well, honestly...all the AIO solutions that I've seen in the last year are really full of gimmicks and just broken UIs
do you suggest any particular setup for who has poor upload speeds?
This guide is especially for people with an upload-speed between around 700-1200 Kbit/s, because above this you shouldn't have that much trouble at finding convincing settings (540p easily)!
Table of content:
How to calculate your bitrate...
I used this.
I used to have true potato internet
It's kind of an old article, trying to find an updated one.
It really depends on what you're streaming to, as well.
:D
Other brands are allowed here
Don't worry though. There's a Rival 650 just out of frame :D
@pulsar fossil what switch is ur keyboard? i'm considering to go for blue keys but my mom wouldn't let me :(
the sound
@noble oak my current one in that picture is red
@pulsar fossil what kb is that?
@fast jewel Apex M500 I think
Ah ok
Uhuhuh! New stuff incoming! ๐
Noctua โค
@pulsar fossil which fans is the cooler using?
@dark linden the noctua fans that the cooler comes with
I managed to get it to fit
The cooler Block is slighty to one side
So i turned it and that made it work
120mm or 140mm?
next build, try the Noctua U12-A
it looks like it has almost the same performances as the N-D15 but in a really compact size
500 tops?
Mmm...I saw some good Asus TUF on discount last week
but they where around ยฃ649
That's an extremely tight budget if you're looking for a gaming laptop. How important is the portability? Because you can build a decent mid-tower desktop for around that price
It's not that important
Really a tower will work, it's just I need a desk situated for that
You're not getting a gaming laptop for that much
Anyone have experience in overclocking? Specifically a 9900k on aorus z390 and/or a gpu?
You just need to up the settings and then stress test
Settings as In
CPU clock ratio
And voltage
Until you find something stable
@chilly edgehow do I know if its stable? I OC the cpu last night, ran a stress test and it was fine and even played BFV. But this morning, the bios made me reset everything to default before it would boot
It's stable whhen it doesn't crash and weird things don't happen
You could try looking out for cpu/GPU utilisation
would that thing this morning be considered weird? so instead of 5 i just set it to 4.9 or something?
Yeah, and make sure the voltage is high enough
ok whats a good voltage? I had mine somewhere around lik 1.34 ish. 1.35
ok thanks man
@quick rune I can tell you need a stitched mousepad just like me ๐
Like QcK Edge Large or XL ๐
Overall beautiful setup ๐
I'm also using laptop - Asus ROG GL553VE ๐
mhm
im using a omen laptop w202 no :)
man this laptop crazy
forza horizon 4 advanced best graphics 68 - 75 fps steady
Nice ^_^
what
?
my laptop?
i bought it for 10k swedish crowns
by a cop
but it cost 20k
2000$
it only has geforce gtx 1070 but xD
just some old pictures
GUys
Razer bread toaster
Steelseries bread toaster
lol
hey @quick rune
hi
Do you find the ear cushions uncomfortable as i just bought the arctis 3's and im thinking on buying some replacements
it is
So would you say investing in new ear cushions like brainwavz or something is worth it?
I mean, brainwavz pads will always be better for comfort
but just as an example
Welp thats me bought some brainwavz pu leather cushions for my arctis 3 ๐
hi people do ypu think this sounds good i am thinking of getting, Arctics 5, APEX 7 Keyboard, Rival 600 Mouse and QXC Prism cloth Mouse pad.
sounds good
I personally wouldn't go with steelseries keyboards
Well I find their switches to be pretty bad (even if they are some gateron crossover crap) and they sell their keyboards for wait too much for what it really is. For the price of one of their keyboards you could find one for cheaper and has better switches, keycaps, and better software as the steelseries engine can be a bit annoying.
But for a mechanical keyboard I recommend staying away from all the big brands like razer, steelseries, corsair etc as thats what they all do. They use their reputation to sell a basic board with some weird features for double or triple the price of what it's worth.
@shy parrot QX2 are really good red switches though
And what's basic/overpriced about steelseries keyboards
Yes, laser etched ABS keycaps are disappointing
But that's about all I can think of
They oversell aluminium and feature it like their the only brand to have ever used it in a keyboard but nowadays almost every keyboard is metallic
But all I'm saying is that their WAY overpriced for what you're actually getting
You can buy practically the same thing but from a different maker for almost half the price
Plus I'm not a fan on their switches as they were based from gaterons and tbh they did have some problems, but they were good and felt smoother than just regular mx's but they wobble a lot etc
Why are you not a fan of gateron manufactured switches?
Because they wobble a lot more than just regular cherry's, and I prefer other switches like kailh box
This is a post from a pal on another server that knows a LOT more than I do.
Well he apparently doesn't know that most plates are either steel or aluminium, not 0lastic
Some are.
But as he said some are just lightly brushed and they just do such a poor job.
Example?
b r u h
Thats still not even my post, if you're just gonna whinge about the fact that their keyboards arent as good as others then im just gonna go
It's going to be a rubber dome in all likelihood
Theres no point talking with you if you wont accept anything im saying
Like you're getting so defensive.
What makes them overpriced?
Look at that post
The weird features?
The company makes them overpriced wdym xD
They cost way too much for what you're getting
I mean don't get me wrong, I like steelseries and have their headset and mousepad
But their keyboards ARE overpriced, it's a fact.
Like the keycaps
I'm on rather low battery rn
Most of them aren't proprietary layouts
When he mentions something it doesn't usually apply to every single item
But a good hand full
Or if they are, it's the bottom row
Plus this is just me but I don't like the font
And Logitech caps, iirc are doubleshot
Dude...
- the SSE is no worse than any other software out there but better than many others
- I owned 2 SS keyboards in the last 12 years and none of them wobble
- the switches just do their job and do not break
the only 2 things I can agree with is the use of ABS for keycaps and the non removable cable...
but consider that the only keyboards with PBT keycap are either really expensive keyboards from underground companies or bought separately as an add-on
Razer broke this trend with the Huntsman TE, but just look at Razer software...jeez
the last person who thought to teach something about keyboards ended up with the profile of a ยฃ350 keyboard
or of a keyboard which do not use any software
when you speak about Kahil box, you already speak about ยฃ200 of switches
the keyboard still has to come
so, please...instead of speaking because "someone who knows told me" just give an honest feedback..
I.E. if the guy is not so fond of the OLED display and wants linear switches could just buy the M750 for ยฃ99 at the moment instead of the Apex 7...
stabilizers, in SS keyboards are better than on Corsair's and Logitech's but not better than the ones in custom keyboards...for sure, but a custom keyboard is not ยฃ150
Another thing, SS uses standard layouts and a normal font instead of the gamery futuristic strange thing of many other companies: you don't like it? It's called choice, not lack of quality.
@dark linden Kailh box switches are like, only a tenner more than gateron switches at most
and about custom keyboards, you can get DIY custom keyboards for rather cheap-ish
but fully custom keyboards (custom manufactured, normally full Aluminium), do cost quite a large sum
and finally, which i forgot to say
Ducky/iKBC boards etc have doubleshot PBT keycaps
and are around the same price as other stuff
like the Ducky one 2 TKL is ยฃ150
yeah
but they do not have software
or at least the same type of software
and they just put in switches
one thing to consider is that most gaming companies, this is not just about steelseries, spend a ton of money in R&D for tweaking stuff, doing unique designs and develop particular drivers with features...
most of these things are overrated for many users, that's why many guys prefer plug'n'play custom keyboards but this doesn't make companies automatically thieves
now, SS keyboards have really 90% of the right stuff...nothing is wobbly. I agree for PBT, but good PBT is expensive (a friend of mine bought his keycaps for 150โฌ)
so, honestly going down the classic rout of "this is shit because something better exist" without context when suggesting to people which don't know what to buy is not good IMHO
the Ducky uses: CherryMX (that for me are not a plus), the bottom is plastic and not full aluminum, the stabilizers are the same as the ones you can find in any Razer/SS/Corsair, there's no "good software" with the keyboard and the keycaps are not PBT by default.
so for ยฃ150 I have no plus (except the detachable cable) over an M750 TKL which is ยฃ129 (ยฃ89 with the discount at the moment)
I'm pretty sure the ducky does have Doubleshot PBT keycaps on by default
nope, but on mechanicalkeyboards you find for 125$ the PBT version
which is a good value
and most customisation on custom keyboards happens through QMK firmware, which can be a pain in the behind
and your friend probably got Signature Plastics/GMK/EnjoyPBT keycaps
which are custom keycaps
yeah, but those keycaps are really better than the regular ones
if I buy a PBT non-custom is just a matter of the feeling under the hand, I could do the same for 25$ and install them on my actual keyboard
but this doesn't make the Apex 7 a bad product
for sure
just the OLED display and the drivers + the full aluminium body are taking more than the price of PBT in the equation
when a company makes a product considers these things
I think that is wrong say that SS keyboards are bad just because they don't meet my likings
but this for everything in life
even the wars iPhone vs Samsung
to each its own
it just has a thinner steel frame which makes it lighter
I think that that's a cover
which is on the bottom
and the keyboard inside is a full aluminum frame around the PCB
would be the CU80 from caps-unlocked
someone from the stuff might correct me but that's what I understood from the ptoduct description and my M750 surely looks built that way, it's pretty solid
yea
the CU80, most likely the closest custom keyboard to the Apex TKLs is like, ยฃ190 with Cherry MX Red switches, TaiHao ABS keycaps and stabilizers included
but if you order gateron switches from china it's ยฃ20 cheaper
I'd change the stabilizers for sure on mine
yea
but as long as these one work well I'll stick with the standard ones
stabilizers are damn important
yep
I'm curiois to see if on the Apex pro there are better ones
the reviews are pretty solid
I'm going to try one at the end of this month
whihc reviews have you seen?
LTT, Hardware Canucks and Paul's HW (I think, I have to double check)
hm
Linus was positively impressed by the Omnipoint package
well, you won't find in depth reviews of "commercial" keyboards anyway
i prefer stuff like Chyrosran22 (though he can get rather vulgar) and TaeKeyboards
who deals with elite stuff doesn't even review gaming keyboards
TaeKeyboards reviews a few gaming keyboard things
like iKBC, ducky
budget stuff too like Drevo
and honestly I don't trust guys who only publicize the last and the best...I usually see if the common reviewers say something coherent then I do my researches in the forums
If some common reviewer says something really uncoherent...
than I know than 9/10 is some underrated product (if it's being bashed) or overpriced product (it it's being praised)
๐
I do highly recommend Chyrosran and TaeKeyboards though, good reviews
I like how some bloke replies to my messages after some time I posted it without tagging me, like does he think I just sit in my chair staring at this one page 24/7 like tf
There was no guarantee though so was pretty stupid overall
I wasn't even gonna look up there but when I came back and seen you messaging like an hour ago I thought you replied but no just some random guy that has obviously not read the whole conversation and just wanted to rant about how great the keyboard is and it's "totally" worth it, lol
It's not like I don't like steelseries or their products
I have a friend that's got the apex m750 tkl or something and I like it but you can't tell me it's not overpriced for what it is
@shy parrot if you want to offend me, feel free to tag me (since you think it's really important to tag people). Now take 5p and buy some education.
And btw, I read the whole conversation...it's just full of stereotypes and copy-paste from r/MechanicalKeyboards
I try stuff and I know things...and I answered based on my knowledge and the principle that calling out something overpriced without making the actual math needed is just a nonsense.
If you think it's overpriced, buy what you think it's a good value for you...but responding to a guy who just asked if the setup he wants to buy it's ok without proofs, just because "a friend said" and "a friend knows" is childish and a nonsense.
Take another 5p, if the previous weren't enough.
@ocean bough the point is: he can say the same things with context and respect, it's just a snap of fingers and this community might become a more of the same which makes no sense. People come here to get feedback from owners of the stuff, if I wasn't using steelseries stuff I wasn't here because I couldn't give a honest feedback on stuff which I don't even consider. But it looks like after 25 years of using computers and a house full of stuff I'm a 'bloke' because I called out a troll with not a single bit of respect for the other users...
@dark linden I never tagged you on purpose as I didn't care if you read that message or not as it wasn't primarily targeted to you, and I'm sorry if you got "offended" by it also xD
And nothing from that was copy and paste, those screenshots was from someone I knew on a separate server, and I don't think it's really important to tag someone, but if you want them to see the message then I suggest tagging them is the best way seeing as you were replying to my comment. Also if you seriously believe that the steelseries keyboards aren't overpriced and you would buy them just because it's branded then you need to take a quid to buy some education. @dark linden This message is so late is because I just clicked on this server and re-read what you said and just felt like I should've added some more in my previous message.
Round 3
Lol
Someone @ me when round 3 starts
LOL what?
Hey guys, letโs make sure to keep it gracious and respectful here. Discussion is great, call-outs or insults are not.
is it happening after a fresh install? Or did you manually created the icon on the desktop?
Oh! JHunz answered to you on general...I didn't see it. Nevermind!
it happend after like a month of getting it, i wiped it off my pc and downladed it again
but it is not working
It might be your anti-virus which blocks a process of the SSE
false positives are quite common with third party drivers
which Antivirus are you using?
I am kinda Windows Defender guy...
im using bit defender
Mmm...can you try putting the SS Engine .exe into the list of exceptions and see if it starts working properly?
I'd put both SteelSeriesEngine3.exe and SteelSeriesEngine3Client.exe in the list of exceptions...just to be sure that the driver is able to work without being blocked by the anti-virus.
I think this is because of the background processes needed for checking the latest version of driver/firmware online and the GameSense to work are picked up as false positives.
i dont even know how to do it
Mmm...I'm currently at work, if you wait ~2hrs at most I can guide you through it via PM
I used BitDefender in the past, but currently I am working so I can't do it now.
if i cant find out online ill take u up on that offer
it still didnt work
i got it i think
yep
if anything comes up
ill get back to you
Great! ๐
yep paracord cable, thanks ๐
here's more details if anyone is interested in doing the same! https://www.reddit.com/r/MouseReview/comments/dicexg/ultralight_steelseries_sensei_10_74g_no_cable_77g/?
Nice mod!
How do you make the arctis 3's sound good
Like good enough to play a competitive game
@feral drum is this your mod? we've been sharing it in the office all day
@hallow wagon Yep! Crash was kind enough to send me a mouse to mod and post about on reddit/mousereview. ๐ steelseries did a great job with the sensei 10. I may make more aesthetic changes in the coming weeks if I come up with some good ideas.
@feral drum I should start doing the modder ๐ค
@shy parrot just the base arctis 3?
I've got to ask..Is this normal on the Apex 7? The light is meant to be turned off doing afk, But some of the lights keep flickering and turning on/off...?https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/577578341885018145/633790617163530242/IMG_20191016_001510.png
Do you have the discord app turned on in SSE
Nope, I tried turning everything on off
@fast jewel I got the pc edition if that's what you're meaning but I also have some programs to help like peace but am just curious on how to make them sound as good as everyone is making them out to be
If you've got your audio quality maxed and your eq set how you like it then that's as good as it'll get
Audio quality maxed?
In windows audio settings change your bitrate to the correct setting
Which is?
For all those people that find it more convenient to bother you with their question than to google it for themselves.
max it
I'll try again when I'm back on my computer but last time I tried that I put it on the highest setting and could hear nothing afterwards
but it is okay because the sensor is adz dszf sdstdfwe ce
yes
but the light aren`t moving but in the ad it is moving
oh ok
With colorshift you can pick different colors that it shifts between
It can shift between as few and pretty much as many colors as you want
Of course
Absolutely :)
Do you like logitech?
I haven't used much of their stuff lately but I would say yes
i hope the steelseries stuff dont see thatxD
My first gaming mouse was a logitech
i think other brands are illegal xD
We're all gamers here :)
I kinda like the new Pro X
It's not like you'd get fired from SteelSeries if you talk positively about another brand
The headset?
Or keyboard?
I've tried the headset and it's pretty good.
Kinda looks like a HyperX Cloud clone :P
xD
But I agree that the clean design is nice
But I do prefer the mic design of steelseries
that lets you hide it more
yeah, the design is good. Bit weirded out by the fact that there's 2 versions though
i want the 600
i know the clean design is beautiful
One with Blue VO!CE and one without
What monitor do you have?
doeas it have g sync
Kinda
or free sync
Adaptive Sync
Are you sure you lost exp?
i was lvl 6
Interesting. Didn't know it could do that
Are you coming for me @chilly edge? :P
that sounds creepy
@tropic hollow has a lot of catching up to do
I'm in first place on the leaderboard and he's second @sour mason :P
I mean, i occasionally check this server, but there's not much about for me here
why is he coming for you๐ฌ
when did this happen????
@tropic hollow needs to step up his game
I have a couple other servers which have a stronger more active community that im in
It's certainly pricey
But it looks great
It's not a lot less than my 49" ultra wide :D
yes
Cool :)
important is: 27inch,QLED,G-Sync,1 ms response time and i want to tilt it
And 27 inch is good for FPS Shooter
It is
:D
we already know it now ๐
what music do you hear guys
I listen to most stuff but mostly EDM stuff like Deadmau5 and Monstercat stuff :)
nice
What about you?
Nice
We've done some interviews with some music peeps
I think Jason Derulo is most likely the biggest name we've talked to
Yes
i also was there at saturday
We left pretty early
Kรถlle
J cole overrated bro
Wednesday I think it was
:D
Damn. The GoXLR sound mixer is a really nice piece of gear
That's the one that does mixing and samples right
Yes
who here can build a very good pc
I can help with a parts list
but i dont think anyone here offers a Build-a-PC service
@outer tiger I haven't tried it myself but I've heard good things about NZXT BLD. https://www.letsbld.com/
BLD - Custom Gaming PCs by NZXT
yea i also heard good things
I've built 5 machines with NZXT cases recently and they are great
local stores/online stores often charge different prices for their products than on the steelseries website. So you might want to keep that in mind
Spray painted the inside of my NZXT S340 for that beautiful FPS-adding RGB lighting. (feat. The cheapest RGB fans you'll ever witness.)
Just letting some aspiring builders out there know that it's not always expensive to make your system look great. The 3 pack of RGB fans was around $27, while a 5 pack is around $37. I used primer, paint, and clearcoat, but on a budget you could get away with just a simple $6 can of white paint and some tape & newspaper. Also, cable management can change a computer completely. Grab a bag of zip ties for $4 and get your PCs looking ready for a hot date. And by hot date I mean running Cinebench, because that gets them pretty hot...
Looks clean @dusty peak
Iโm wanting to get RGB fans but I donโt really see my tower enough@
@ocean bough I can understand that, but I keep my tower on top of my desk, so I always keep it looking nice.
@ocean bough I get that, it's impractical to put the tower on top of the desk, but man it's just such a hard flex. I just got a new desk and I made sure the tower would find a home on it.
Make sure you keep it clean ๐
Always got it.
I like white desks but knowing my look I'll end up ruining it
Eh it's a cheap desk anyway, got it off Amazon free shipping for just $100. If the time comes where paint is peeling, there's no harm in just taking it back apart and giving it a thorough paint job that will last years. It will cost around $24-32 for enough white paint, primer, and clearcoat. Just giving it a good new makeover after it's experienced some wear can make all the difference in how it looks and feels.
And also having the extra large mouspead is nice to prevent wrist-wear on the most used areas.
Yeah thats what I use
They look nice, and are very functional. Never worrying about your mouse slipping between the edge of your mousepad and your keyboard is great. Also, they have as much real-estate as Donald Trump.
that's one sweet lookin setup!
@timber jasper ๐ณ
kinda fresh tho
@timber jasper ๐คข keyboard
I want to change my keyboard and mouse i buy 2014 this setup?
i have the APEX PRO and didn't regret a penny
:)
that's one dope setup!
Not really showing off a build, but I'd like to welcome the newest member of my SteelSeries family, the QcK Heavy
noice!
almost identical setups :) just bigger mousepad and non TKL version of the m750 for mine :D
OwO spicy
does anyone here use a Intel core i9?
I do use a Core i9-9900k @tropic hollow
@analog root anything you'd like to know?
if the drives fit in their cages they would work
i wanna get Steel series everything, even a pc;(
same lol
Steel series headsets are amazing!! Just not mine at the moment when itโs in 2 pieces...
๐ฌ๐ง
nice
the keyboard ruins it
Indeed
im getting the Qck Prism and apex pro soon

Never say rgb is useless
Rgb is beautiful!!
sure is
Especially when it's all SteelSeries
I do need a new mouse though.. Rival 650 Wireless maybe?
Wireless mouse is not so good
Also I appreciate SteelSeries, it's pure quality and performance
I know, I'm just tired of my mouce cable xD
I have razer ouroboros and it's too boring to charge
Wired is the best
Steelseries is pure quality except for the 600 series apparently
Firmware issues and side grips come off
that's more or less true
Well I had to glue the side grip of my Rival 310 back on
I mean it's old but it's still surviving my skills xD
More like my lack of skills
rip
I love my 650
I donโt really notice any input lag etc
And I just charge it when Iโm AFK
h*ll yeah
Can someone make me a build for around 700 to 800
Thatโs a naughty one
@eager mural ofc i can build some propositions, tell me what games you play, do you work besides playing, what monitor you have 1080/1440/4k or wide with what refresh rate eg. 60hz 144hz 240hz?
and where do you live
Like any game like fortnite, cs, overwatch. And I dont have a monitor on me
I live in FL
I'd probably add some more case fans to that
and maybe get a smaller SSD to get a HDD for extra storage
and an ATX motherboard would be better than mATX
This is what i ended up with https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RLc6Rk
P300 is a good case, so didn't bother changing it, and monitor should be fine.
True
Next month im getting the Apex Pro and the Qck Prism large and omg im dying, are any of you getting any SS gear this season?
Sweet setup
Rival 650 vs Razer Mamba Elite vs Sensei Ten which one is better
Rival 650
@noble oak
At least I think so
@noble oak Sensei Ten.
it mainly depends on what mouse shape you want

Finally finished my new pc build just two weeks ago as my 3900 X finally arrived after preordering it in June, itโs taken me months to save up for all my parts and is actually the first PC I have fully built by myself, I do plan on doing a custom loop sometime next year here are the specs:
Specs:
Phanteks Evolv X Satin Black
ASUS ROG X570-E Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 3900X @4.3ghz
Corsair H150i with 6 ML120 fans push/pull
ASUS ROG 2080 Ti OC
Gskill trident x neo @3600Mhz
Seasonic 750W platinum
Corsair MP600 1Tb
Samsung 850 EVO 2Tb
Peripherals:
LG 34Gk950-F 3440x1440@144hz
Steelseries Apex Pro
Steelseries Arctic Pro and GameDAC
Steelseries Rival 710
I did have the card side mounted however in the case it was too close to the glass so am thinking of doing a custom loop next year to enable a sleepy look with more adequate cooling, hope you all like it! ๐
Reason: Bad word usage
The build is super cool dude it just makes me feel broke lol but i really like it
Thanks man ๐ like I said itโs been about 6 months of super hard saving in the making but Iโm pretty content now
Your build is nasty man, sick as build, I wish I have the money to build a setup like that. good job at it
Thanks dude!
Bruh, finally finished the PC. Now I gotta order a new keyboard, mouse and headset to match
Itโs finally here!
hello i have a question
About?
That audio gear looks cool
@analog goblet and you said that you didnt have any idea what audio is ๐
Seems as though I have it figured out now
xD nice job!
wtf.. is that a corsair k70
k95
Oh? What keyboard are you using?
I take it you donโt like the Corsair k95?
Have you used the apex7?
Doesnโt have the function keys on the left side like I needed for changing my stream scenes
yeah i demo it
u can make macors
but.. i dont need that anyways,, just a simple high quality board
and media controsl
Waho
@slender dagger looks like meshify C. There are no intakes on the sides of the front panel
Meshify s2
Hello
I just want to ask about the steelseries ARCTIS 3 BLUETOOTH if can use it via phone call or recording?
You can use the mic with bluetooth but it will be really low quality due to the nature of bluetooth
It says in the email?
yes
Use the code in the webshop
but
You'll still have to pay for shipping
No
I don't think so?
Just add it to the cart and fill out the promo code there
Make an account with that email?
yes..
i copy and past the email where i recieve the mail...
and it doesn't works..
i can't
i already did an account
ah ok i understood
Great :)
@pulsar fossil i have created one
but
see
i'm not good at maths
but
i think that 19,99 - 19,99 = 0 ?
Yes, that's why the subtotal is 0
but why 12,99 ?
The total is 12,99 due to shipping
The mouse pad is free. Shipping isn't
It would have been 19,99 more without the code
So it's 12,99 EUR rather than 32,98 EUR
but it's still expansive
Nothing I can do about that :)
You're welcome :)
Idk where to really put this to be honest but does anyone know a good case for a server? I know this isnt a pc but hey it is close ๐
thatโs really not specific
you could get a poweredge and just be done with it i guess
A file server sorry
like
what kind though
one of those massive raid setups? a bunch of poweredges? what
LTT has some stuff on the RAID ones iirc
Raidshadowlegends
who can I ask for an opinion related to PC hardware?
@NoHomo#1402 this channel? :)
ask away
im in the process of a new build right now too
with the hot black friday sales .. saved hundreds!
only thing i need now is steelseries to black friday sale the apex 7
or ill have to buy the corsair k70
:S
It's pointless to keep begging for a discount
Pressure on what? You won't reach the marketing team
In my computer i have a gtx 1660 which sells for 180 euro. Is it worth it to put 150 more euro to buy an rtx 2060?
@jovial summit depends what you are looking for from the rtx card.
@chilly edge i think @slender dagger means more support of putting it on sale I hope they dont mean pressure
The more people want a sale, the more likely it is to happen. But its hard to get sales reps/marketing to put on a sale
well, yes.. and also look at the timing of black friday, all the market is dropping sale prices now (razer, corsair, asus, etc)
ill post some pics f my pc build too soon as everything comes in
It has been a MINUTE to say the least
I am looking for a better gaming experience
@jovial summit you mean higher fps etc etc?
Yep
I would personally say it is plus ray tracing is another part of gaming experience so you will probably enjoy that as well
Thanks for the opinion
no problem! if you need any help with anything else you can just pm me!
@jovial summit
Ok
anyone using the ASUS rog strix 470-f motherboard ?
hey will a 2080 ti and i7 9th gen run ultrawide 2.5k at over 120, preferably 144 fps? Like roughly what percentage of games? and an i9 isn't worth it is it?
I'm not entirely sure. I reckon it'd be able to push 120 (depends on the game, whether it favours intel/AMD etc, DX11 or DX12, or Vulkan and whatnot APIs)
Best thing you can do is check benchmarks
areet
where do you suggest I check?
This is my first pc build you see
userbenchmark?
I'm pretty sure stuff like apex and competitive shooter esports type will run over but 3A will run under?
I'd check Hardware Unboxed/Gamer's Nexus benchmarks
okay thanks
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ByvrDx $1,000 budget gaming PC
Has a 3600x because $10 for a better cooler isn't bad but if the price raises better off getting regular 3600
You can get cheaper 5700xt but they are cheap for a reason
Even some expensive 5700xt perform worse than that one
If you want to save more money get the ryzen 7 2700x performs pretty good for the price
๐๐๐
Nice
That's an aerocool case isn't it? My friend was looking at it
Nice
So guys I want to build another pc my one at the moment is not bad by any means but I want this one to be that really nice looking case, rgb water cooling etc etc but any reccomendations on the case? also AMD seem to be crushing intel at the moment from what I am seeing from linus tech tips videos.
But I am just unsure which cpu to go with since I have had intel for all my builds. Does not mean I wont switch to AMD though.
In games there's only about a 5-10 FPS difference between AMD and Intel right now, but not something you'll actually notice while playing. Also AMD CPUs are much better bang for the buck than Intel atm and with Cyber Monday and stuff you can get a beefy Ryzen CPU for a hefty discount @oblique quarry
what about cases then? I will go AMD then thanks guys! appreciate you all! ๐
@oblique quarry it depends really
DeepCool Matrexx55 or Matrexx50 are pretty good though
Thanks for the suggestion I will look into them!
but there GPU'S are still not as good as nividas are they?
As long as you don't need 2080ti level performance their 5700 series is on par with the 2060/2070
what preformance difference is it because at the moment in my current computer I have a 1070.
^
You can look up comparisons between a 1070 and a 5700 online, but honestly if you have a 1070 there isn't really a reason to upgrade right now lol
My current build is a 1080 ti with an i7 7700k
Pretty outdated waiting for next year to build a new one
CPU is lacking
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/pGw6Dx can anyone take a look at this and see what would be better off changing?
you're getting two mice?
Could go for an amd processor cuz they have more cores
Get 4 sticks instead of 2 sticks of ddr4
I'll just send a PC partpicker link
@Pannekoek#2001 https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/
Probably not in the server anymore
@raven salmon what're you gonna use the system for?
@raven salmon https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/KbXygJ I added a different CPU option (same gaming performance as the 9900K but lacks QuickSync/IGP so if you don't need those, it will save a bit). Changed the mobo/GPU as the Aorus Extreme has fairly insane RGB lighting on it, and given you are going for LL120's I felt like RGB was a consideration. Also added a difference headset/mouse option (still Steelseries) - I don't know why PCPP thinks the 700 costs ยฃ239 lol, it costs about $99 USD (and PCPP didn't have the 710 which has an upgraded sensor). Just preferences - the original parts list looked super good already.
Monitor wise I recently got the new Samsung C49RG which is 120Hz, but it's 5120x1440p, HDR, FreeSync 2, QLED. Very nice monitor.
Yeah i already ordered the monitor and peripherals already. I got the second mouse on a black friday deal it was basically free. I'll have a look at the list though. Cheers
my logic was buy msi motherboard as it would sync up to my graphics card nicely and i like the look of the metallic finish
is there any difference in actual use of the aorus and the msi mobo? Like vram channels, cooling pcie lanes etc? Whenever i look at the specs it's just a page of numbers
I don't know the MSI one super well, but I've see that range (Aorus Z390 Master/Pro/Ultra) recommended a lot. I also tried to compare on their site and it was just like pages of numbers about things I am not fully across - so yeah heh. Thinking further, you likely won't see the RGB on the GPU unless you mount it vertically. I only see it as I have a reverse ATX case, so the GPU is fan-side up in my case.
I fully endorse the Steelseries peripherals though, I'm essentially shopping now for the same set - Apex Pro, 710 and I have the Arctis Pro Wireless already. I got the wireless version as they are dual wireless (2.4Ghz and Bluetooth) and I sometimes connect them to my laptop via BT, versus my PC via wireless. Also the DAC charges one battery whilst you use the other - they come with two. So you just cycle them and never run out.
Also when you stand up you don't need to remember to take them off ๐
Yeah that's a plus haha. I just wanted the high res audio that came with the wired. I've read a lot about aorus too. Perhaps I'll look at their gpu and how it stacks up.
I don't think the aorus extreme is a good choice for GPU, weighs a ton and could do with a support bracket
Still recommend ryzen 9 over i9
They are pretty close in gaming performance but if you plan to stream or record ryzen 9 performs better every time
Also turns your PC into a workstation beast
It comes with a steel backplate @chilly edge and also a support bracket.
I actually didn't seem to need it though, and I had a Galax 1080Ti HoF previously, which is a larger/heavier card and also comes with a support bracket, that I didn't use. It may be because I have a reverse ATX case and perhaps the card benefits from being mounted upside down - not sure.
It's a fair point about Ryzen over Intel @maiden sorrel - I do feel dirty shopping for Intel atm. Chances are I won't pick anything up, CES 2020 is Jan 7th and there will be announcements galore there, so not long to wait and then can plan better.
I personally wouldnt even get a 2080 ti for that price you could build a pretty good system
$1,000+ for a gpu
Yeah it's more for people with excess budget.
1080ti was way cheaper and is still a beast
Like he has an UW monitor for example in his build, and I have a SUW. At those resolutions you need a top GPU.
Yeah I found the 1080Ti really difficult to upgrade from.
It performs around the same as a 2080 (non ti)
Yeah I have a laptop with a 2070RTX non max-q version in it, and the two basically keep pace with each other. Well, not now that I have the 2080Ti heh, but previously they did.
Btw @raven salmon if you like the RGBs check out the Phantek's RGB Neon strips, they are super cool.
What's his budget?
Not sure, but the parts list was about ยฃ4K when I checked yesterday.
i was looking at corsair ls100 rgb strips but I'll look at yours too thanks
They look like the same concept actually. What lengths do they come in?
Ok yeah so same concept, can't recall offhand the Phanteks lengths, but they have two sizes as well.
ah das cool I'll probably get corsaircs then just cause I can sync it up to my case ๐
Ah nice nice, if the mobo has addressable RGB headers you should be able to use either AFAIK.
Why not go water cooling for cpu
i nearly killed my pc when putting in water cooling system
What happened?
yeah also I'm kind of new to pc building and it seems overly complicated
didnt put it in properly
big oof
luckily my uncle who builds pcs as a day job fixed it
I like be quiet coolers too have you looked into those
Nice. I watched Bitwit on YouTube almost kill a PC with water cooling too. He was doing a cycle and turned it on to get the coolant to flow through to other components, forgetting he had just removed a section, and it just fountained out narrowly missing the PSU. D:
no but I've got 8 additional fans overall so I think i might be alright
Yeah I will second BeQuiet! they make great stuff. I have a PSU from them.
oh right
I have one of their cases
my philosophy was that if people are putting those ugly noctua fans in their systems they must be good lol
Do you do any streaming/recording?
I don't but maybe one day
You only using it for gaming?
I was looking for a new case actually, considered the Cooler Master 500P Mesh, also like that Corsair Crystal too and the Lian Li 011 Dynamics, but for some reason PCPP was saying it isn't compatible with my cooler, which was odd.
PCPP can't check cooler clearance i believe
it was more likely to be not having the correct mounting bracket on the cooler itself
It only showed a warning if I chose the Lian Li case though, if I changed it to any other the warning went away.
Or if I changed it to a different cooler.
Well should be 30xx series GPUs and also the one I'm really looking forward to, AMD's 5950 XT.
Yeah, if AMD get their boost clock speeds up, then I will make a jump to them from Intel for sure.
I'm hoping amd can compete with Nvidia in the high end so the prices could be more competitive
Since I only do gaming.
Since amd is hitting hard this year Intel will probably up their game
They had no competition before
I don't know if Intel can really, in such a short space of time.
Like there is that joke about the 9900KS where it was obsolete as soon as it was released lol
The only area Intel exceeds in, is gaming performance and if you aren't running at/near 4K resolutions then even that is debatable, because there are better Ryzen SKUs at every level, other than the top.
9900ks is just a 9900k overclocked
Correct
damn
@raven salmon also put quad channel ram instead of dual channel
4x8 instead of 2x16
Performs better
I've heard the opposite
I'm running quad channel had a 10+ fps boost across many games also helps with other task like editing
10FPS is a lot. ๐ฎ
I know dual channel performs better than single, but I've not heard about quad performing better than dual.
hmm interesting
Look up benchmarks of quad channel vs dual channel
For amd ryzen CPUs ram speed/ amount of ram boost even more
But I'm currently on an Intel cpu till ryzen 4000
OK so I asked in PCMR, and 4 sticks vs 2 sticks makes no difference. You may be thinking about installing RAM on platforms with an actual quad channel controller @maiden sorrel
Hmm i keep reading that dual channel makes a big difference but quad is not even 3fps in most cases
For example, Intel's X299 (the Skylake X and Cascade lake X Core i9s) or AMD's X399 (Threadripper) is what I as told.
OK I will later, but I don't have time now as I'm at work.
Same just bored
Nothing to do right now at work
Looking at benchmarks with his specs it actually doesn't do anything 4 fps difference
Probably affecting me more cuz I have an older cpu
So @raven salmon with those specs you are fine with dual channel won't affect you according to benchmarks
ah cool cool thanks for checking
Have you tried vr?
I have
Wonder if someone will mod cyberpunk 2077 for vr
And 4 months till the new half life game
People still don't believe me when I say that a new half life game is coming out
Man, I imagine CP2077 will be unplayable in VR given the E3 demo was running on a Titan X.
I have a Vive and want the controllers Valve have developed, I think the Vive is ace but it's controllers just aren't as good as the Knuckles.
Well, managed to get my I7-9700K to 5.2GHz stable!
Very nice, on water?
yes sir!
Seems like a decent build
