For just gaming purposes, 16GB is plenty. For most editing work 32GB is ideal although most professional video editors have 64-128GBs in their systems. unless you're going to be doing some hard core video editing, 3D rendering, or any kind of high intensity productivity task, you absolutely do not need 256GB of RAM
