Wow, reading about these new APEX switches, holy crap. You can adjust each key, individually for sensitivity, if you want. Guess this could make WASD super-sense but reduce the sense of other things around it so you don't accidentally press Q and fire off something. Hall Effect keys, too. Man.

Ya, I use Hall Effect sensors in what I do, a lot. They are really handy and they can be very tiny and extremely accurate. Awesome to see them used in a keyboard this way.

You can even use Hall Sensors to measure distance. Could even be used as pressure sense or throttle in some instances. Would be interesting to see if anything like that is ever implemented (or useful).

@raven patio the Apex m750 uses the QX2 switches which are an improved/modified version of the Gateron RED switches. The Apex Pro will use the OmniPoint switches which are analog magnetic switches. HardwareCanucks made a preview and says that at standard setup they really feel like smother and more linear QX2 switches, but you can adjust the actuation point anyway you like, this will fine-tune the feeling to what you think suits best for you. The spring force should be of 0.45cF which is really similar to the spring used in the QX2 (if not the same).

Also...SteelSeries is a european company, the trade ban doesn't affect their business (at least and for now)

Mmm...the measures I found on the review I used as reference where actually wrong, because my Rival 650 is 67mm. I found a review on overclock.net made by Takasta on the old Kanav2 which has the same shape of the Rival 106 and the widest point of the shape is 64mm while the length is 124mm and the height 37mm.

It should be ~60-61mm at this point. Is not so much smaller than the Sensei 310... @short widget

in my opinion, the performance impact has been from the higher CPU usage (polling) but that has been negated by the fact we can run the game at WAY higher FPS than before (quake players/cs players/arena shooter players would enjoy this more)

A WIRELESS mech board with Gaterons that has RGB backlighting. Could use the same tech in the Rival 650 and adapt that for lowering the latency. The build quality of SteelSeries with a fully wireless setup would be PERFECT for my rather cramped setup. And have a standard and TKL options.

Logitech has a board with the numpad, but there's no backlight, and Corsair's has no numpad and has a fixed blue backlight. I'd love to see them marry the two ideas, but use RGB LEDs

well, some parts could be open to the public, due to growing concerns of "gaming apparel" software being quite insecure. points finger at other company that starts and should be handed 🇱 award.

but being open-source (to a point) can actually help, forexample the software being ported to other OS'es than listed by the company (mac/windows only soft, no linux software avaliable, you gotta get the 3rd party, reverse engineered stuff)

Very excited about the new Apex Keyboards. The omni point switch seems really cool but I don't really know how to feel about it. It just seems a little weird to me, once I get used to it I'll adjust it to something like 2.2 mm. (My Current Keyboard Switches' Activate Pont) Though the one thing that may be a little iffy with me is the price... $180? I don't know how to think about this but I may or may not buy it. Though I can very easily see why it is priced that high, just that I'm pretty broke and I might not be able to afford it :(.

So...honestly I think that the .4 actuation distance is just for the specs and barely usable...but what I could say to @main haven is that if you are prone to try a new actuation point but you like the feel of linear switches, that might me the buy to do...If you feel right with your actual switches just don't feel the pressure of buying one and use the one you own as long as it's good.
I love linear switches...but i like a slighter higher actuation point rather than the one on the QX2 because I literally let my fingers rest on the keys and sometimes I do unwanted clicks...the adjustable feature would be perfect to calibrate the weight of my fingers on the keys and take the value which gives me the shortest press (on WASDEQ SHIFT and CTRL while playing) from the resting position...then I would use a pretty normal profile for typing and so on.
I can see the potential in that...but if you don't need the extra feature and you're looking for a fixed travel distance just go for the one feels better for you, the price is really high so I think that you shouldn't put your wallet on the line just because you think is cool...you can save the money and buy it at a better time for sure!

.4 is very low and even Speed switches actuate with a little too much pressure. We’ll have to see reviews and test it ourselves to find the truth. Though the whole thing about the keyboard is that you can change the actuation

Dont wanna tell ya wrong, but a calzone would probably be the last choice for help. The sauce is saying uninstall then reinstall. The cheese is sayin check maybe firewall and see if its tryna block anything/whitelist the engine. The crust says find a new partner. While the meat reccomends you to open a support ticket
