Checked out the Marvel Ultraman miniseries, and I liked them. Not a straight retelling of Ultraman, but uses their lore with a Marvel twist. Much like in the original Ultraman, in 1966 a Science Patrol ship smashes an alien sphere… except the one piloting it is Dan Moroboshi. Then the story jumps to the modern setting of the 2020s where Kiki Fuji is part of the United Science Patrol and her friend Shin Hayata is… not. Circumstances lead Hayata to a chance encounter with an Ultra, and together they become Ultraman! Things aren’t so straightforward however as there is something amiss with the Earth and the increasingly common Kaiju phenomenon.

Having Ultra and Shin Hayata sharing headspace and frequently communicating is a neat twist. lol Ultra not realizing what sarcasm is. Neat retelling, though I prefer the manga sequel tot he original Ultraman that was adapted to Netflix. But still it’s only been 3 and 1 unfinished mini series, could become better. Also yes the Avengers crossover is canon to the Ultraman storyline lol, Spidey and then more Marvel peeps crossover to this universe.

There was also another Ultraman comic book series in the 90s… but it’s a sequel to the Australian produced Ultraman but I haven’t watched that so leaving those aside for now.
