The sudden change from Hamon to Stands, among other things, makes it come off as a new IP. Like, if Dragon Ball happened and then instead of DBZ it became One Piece, but with the same characters as before. We would have gone from martial arts and Ki to devil fruit and magic powers. :v

Can I just share a theory ive always had rq?
So everyone always says that the reason DIO survived the boat kabloomy was that he quickly ducked in the coffin last second.
Personally I believe that it was a bit of a slower process than that.
I believe that; after the boat explosion; which lets be real; would not have killed the man who is a living head; he simply sank down into the ocean; deep enough to avoid the sun's rays. He would've taken Jonathan's body; but it wouldve certainly been tattered to hell after the explosion; so Dio would need a long long time to grow even slightly used to it; especially when he's in a position where he cannot kill others. Even if he wasnt in the water; Jonathan's body wouldve been too roughed up to function without time. And how did he get in the coffin? Well; after Erina was rescued; it wouldve eventually gotten waterlogged and sunk to the ocean; where fate does its magic as it always does in JoJo; and it finds its way to Dio; where he uses it as a place to rest.
Not a perfect theory but I think its better than; "He jumped in a secret compartment before Erina could even notice"

Personas vary from Stands in many ways. Since I know little about Persona 1 and the Persona 2 duology, I will cover my knowledge about the modern Persona games, Persona 3, 4, and 5.

The main difference that comes to mind between Personas and Stands is that you cannot summon Personas in the "real world". There is always an alternate dimension, time or place in which you can summon your Persona. In Persona 3, there is a 25th hour of the day, only accessible by certain people (mostly being people who can use Personas) known as the "Dark Hour". In Persona 4, there is a god who gives certain humans the ability to enter/put stuff into a place known as the "TV World" by simply putting your body, and what ever you wish to take with you, into a TV Screen. In Persona 5, there is a place known as the "Metaverse" which is accessible via a phone app given to those with Personas.

In relation to that, people without Personas can see Personas if they are in one of those worlds.

Another big difference is that damage is always done to the Persona user, not to the Persona, the way stand battles are. Personas function more as spell-casters rather than an extension of the user.

While Personas are based off the users mind, similar to Stands, Personas are more based on that persons mind as a whole, rather than their "fighting spirit".

The forms Personas take are also rather different than Stands. While both the Persona series and Stardust Crusaders use tarot cards as symbolism, the Personas aren't literally called by their "Arcana" (the term used in relation to it's tarot card", and Arcana is used to organize Persona type and Shadow (enemy). Personas forms and names are generally based off of figures from myth, history, or legend. For example, the protagonist of Persona 5's Persona is "Arsene", based off of Arséne Lupin.
