My only main issue with Part 3 is the amount of stuff that feels like filler
They establish that there will be a certain amount of villains to defeat before Dio, then it's like "oops there's 9 more"

One thing I want to give part 3 credit for is despite being the first time stands were a thing, which was like a whole new concept, Araki did try to make the best out of it. Some stands may be simple but I still think there's some that are creative enough and could still pass off as stands in later parts

Probably the one thing that's unfortunate about part 3's stands is a lot of them need to have the right set up
There are stands like that in later parts but I find them more common here

I just realized Bastet wouldn't even be good against non stand users because they don't see the plug, so nobody gets affected unless Mariah goes out of her way to push the victim into one

the major problem with part 3 isn’t even necessarily that most of these stand battles feel like they’re not progressing the story

it’s that most of these battles are awful

luckily most of the bad battles are concentrated in the portion that’s before they arrive in egypt

and after we hit d’arby it’s smooth sailing, for the most parts

still a few speed bumps

the only reason part 3 is still just barely enjoyable and watchable pre-ndoul is because the cast is still really good

the hijinx of the cast is fun, it’s just that the fights are brutally boring

if there’s one plus to the 2000 OVA adaptation of the first half of stardust crusaders, it’s that it’s over in 2 and a half hours instead of taking close to 11 hours
