my issue isn’t that it’s different, really — my issue is that it tries to do a lot of the same things part 7’s D4C fight did with less than half of the background the P7 fight had

incorporating the spin was sooo cool when it first happened and then as the next chapters came out it became clear that araki was just using spin as “a get out of OP villain fight free” card

like i can excuse the plot holes that were never fixed, even if they’re probably more glaring issues in a reread. i don’t need everything explained and i don’t even mind if ideas are dropped (which they are relatively frequently in JJL)

but the haphazard way araki wrapped up the Wonder of U arc just felt like he was checking off boxes without caring how smoothly it went

characters dying suddenly ✅
weird monologues from several different characters ✅
crazy albeit confusing power up ✅
quick bittersweet wrap up ✅

all of these things that made previous part finales so memorable ended up feeling phoned in and weak. i remember when ||kei|| died i was just so confused because it was so unnecessary. like they died for such a flimsy and forced reason and to add insult to injury ||their death was after YEARS of being absent from the storyline. araki brought her back for the sole purpose of killing her off for good lol.||

anyway TL;DR the first 20 episodes of the Jojolion anime are probably gonna be fire

Anyone who pursues Tooru or his stand, comes first in the flow of calamity, first in the list of disasters that are written into the very chain of logic that makes up the world. The visible effect of this is a series of harmful coincidences which often causes far more damage than they reasonably should. The form of the head doctor is this natural calamity energy, which Tooru merely co-opted as his own stand. It exists independently, that is why WoU remains when Tooru is killed, it also implies that the power pre-existed him, given that it's the destruction of WoU that breaks the Higashikata curse, or at least that the 2 events coincide, it seems that the Higashikata curse was a part of this flow of calamity, perhaps before Tooru was ever even born, his existence itself may have even been a flow of calamity, a host for WoU to help protect itself from the inf rotation.

All this might explain why the disease seems to stick so close to the family when exchanged by the corpse: the Higashikatas have been marked for calamity. In a sense, that is what a curse is, so why did Johnny die after the second exchange? Because he was affected by Wonder Of You through its connection to the Higashikata Curse. The corpse exchanged away the rock disease from George, but WoU's ability ability ensured that Johnny would be its next target. And why did Wonder of U trigger on Johnny in the first place? Because Johnny attacked it. This, it seems to me, is the true purpose behind Johnny getting on a horse to perform the exchange, he was hoping that at the moment of transfer, his attack would pierce and destroy the disease. This attempt caused Johnny to be moved to the top of the list of calamities. That explains why Johnny became the victim of the exchange, and why the first activation of Autumn Leaves was to kill Johnny. But, how could Tusk Act 4 be deflected back on to Johnny? After all, TA4's infinite spin is meant to be an unstoppable offense, one that can bypass through dimensions, gravity etc. Therefore, it can't have been the corpse's activation that redirected the shot and since WoU has a nature similar to that of the corpse's, it is doubtful that it could have accomplished that on its own. Rather it seems more in keeping with the various abilities involved that Tusk Act 4 hit Johnny because it still was following the calamity.

This is similar to Tusk's behaviour in the high voltage arc, where act 4 moves through the bridge after hitting it, then homing in on its true target, Diego, and attacking him from the ground. So too, is the shot here merely following its true target: the rock disease and the flow of calamity. **This homing attack then triggers WoU for a 2nd time, causing a boulder to crush Johnny via Autumn Leaves.**After all, when a stand user dies, their stand ability goes with it (besides a few exceptions). That's why Johnny's body is not annihilated by the infinite rotation, and why the attack doesn't continue on to damage WoU. The flow of calamity protects itself by stopping the attack at the source, and Act 4 is seemingly stopped.

You mention that the reason calmity activated was because johnny attacked him but that isnt the case,In the chapters narration and even his internal thoughts you can tell his actions aren't to destroy the curse but to transfer it,this is why the chapter mentions that johnny intentionally got on his horse so his wife wouldnt see what happened
