Well, here's my thought process. I think the biggest connecting theme between both SBRverse parts is the idea of "blessings" and "curses".
The short and sweet is that Stands are a blessing in this new universe. And as the recent chapter said, the Rock Humans receive blessings from the Earth, and live in special places that give blessings. That's why they are born stand users.
You can view the connection as Rock Humans are born from the Earth (cus they're rock) --> They are blessed by the Earth --> Stands are blessings --> The Corpse of Jesus also creates blessings --> Areas that have corpse parts become blessed (Wall Eyes & Devils Palms)

Here's what I like about the beetle fight
If you remove all of the inner-monologuing, it just sounds like two people making a friendly bet, no animosity
But add it, and it becomes a full on Stand Battle. It's funny, because Joshu is basically the only honest person in that whole arc
Josuke is pretending to be a goofball to get Jobin's car, and Jobin is acting like he doesn't care and that he's just having a bit of fun, despite him taking it super seriously.
