I love how so many of the fights in jojolion are these intimate, personal attacks on the protags, the stakes are always josuke's past, or the higishikata family, or holly. The vitamin c fight is all three of them at once. It's never just self-preservation like most of the fights in the previous parts are. Stuff like jobin going up against the guy he himself hired in order to save his family. The Yotsuyu fight was already about protecting family but it is even better in retrospect after learning he was part of the group that caused Josuke to become a fusion in the first place. Every single antagonist so far has been part of this ever-expanding complex web of relationships (except dolomite lol) that makes it feel tight and connected where every element points towards everything else.

At least right now, it hasn't been, and Ojiro is dead, but it still has thematic importance if you think about it
A big theme of Jojolion is "identity" and "belonging"
"Man of the land" and "Man of the sea" aren't important ideas in jojolion, but they are important to Ojiro
"You call yourself a surfer, but you work a job on land. Wouldn't that be what you should call yourself?" That's part of what he's asking.
Additionally, surfing (and also torturing women at the beach) is something ojiro did "for fun" and Kira essentially called that frivolous and lacking in meaning. The thing that Ojiro valued most in his identity was torn down relentlessly by this man who saw through him.
He saw through Ojiro for what he was: vapid, shallow, and with nothing to truly give him any pride in how he lives his life. He just tries to have "fun" and wound up pathetic as a result.
He's not a man of the land or a man of the sea. He's not a man of anything.
And not having anything to identify with is like, the cornerstone of josuke's current arc. It's really interesting.

Awaking III Leaves's ability being arrows is really interesting to me, since Josuke, Joshu, and Hato all have arrows on their designs as well. Most of the anatagonists have the rokakaka spikes motif, so I wonder what the arrow motif on the protagonists could mean. It's a really bizarre and particular design choice, especially since Mitsuba's stand was only introduced relatively recently, the arrow use has finally culminated into a stand that is entirely covered in arrows and creates them.

Hato is this supermodel. When you hear she brought home a boyfriend, and you see he's really kind of ugly and awkward, you realize something. Hato is someone who doesn't care about looks. She fell in love with someone for their personality and cherished them regardless, with a lot of enthusiasm.
It's something that catches you offguard. It actually made me think that Tamaki was a misdirection, and that he wouldn't be the stand user. But then he was, and he was the biggest asshole.
And he even said shit like "Your daughter is completely wrapped around my finger" as if he was some kind of player.
Like, that he was doing so much hatable stuff, but that takes it to a new level.

That's true for basically every single Part before JJL, but in my opinion the B&W is the Peak of Araki's talent as a draftsman. The issues of the past with indeterminate art is practically gone now, maybe it's due to proper scans or Araki becoming that much better of an artist but it reads just as well now as coloring did in the past.
