#Laravel is great but slow to load locally

I have a windows 10 system (16 gb) running XAMPP & visual studio. It often takes anywhere from 10 to 15 seconds for simple page refreshes at times. This is extremely painful from a development side of things.

Objective/question: What is your simply and effective solution for a noob to work with Laravel locally in the Fall of 2023?

Simple things to check: Is xdebug enabled? Is the folder excluded from Windows Defender?
