Actual Result:

When you are holding a skullsaver in your hand or inventory, you can ear them speak (and see the sound wave) but nearby pirate don't ear them.

Expected Result:

Nearby pirate should ear the skullsaver ranting and inspect the noise location

Steps to Reproduce:

• Get a skullsaver
• Sneak past a pirate
• Nothing happen

how does this affect the "how mean can this game be" budget?
does it make a difference if the skullsaver is in hand or inventory?

Interesting. I commented on this in the steam forum. Was wondering if this was considered a bug or intended. Definitely in favour of this. Depending on how it works it could add a fair amount of challenge. Which is good imo. And yeah, based on the existing cues, it feels like a skullsaver should make a different level of noise depending on if it's held in the open vs in your pocket. The game already has the concept of small vs big noises I think(?).

it definitely is louder for you when holding it in your hands - the skullsaver actually talks to you then (and Nina tells it to shut up), while when it's just in the inventory you only hear muffled noises

Yup, that's the intent we had -- when you're holding it in your hand, the skull creates a medium-ish sound radius. When it's in your pocket, it creates a very tiny (muffled) sound radius.

The pocket radius does work right now in the current steam build. But the next build will fix the bug with the held-in-hand sound radius not working.

Cool. Makes sense.

Huh. Don't think I've ever triggered an alert with the pocket noise, even when quite close to an enemy. Just assumed it didn't make a noise. Personally, I wouldn't mind if that was tuned up a bit to make it factor into gameplay more and to provide more of a disincentive for filling your inventory with skulls.

I assume it's a similar radius to banging an object against a wall, what the log calls a "small noise" I think. You do have to be very close for that to have an effect, initially I thought that that didn't make a noise until I specifically tested it.
