I mean, lizards can be very useful, especially because they are tough and are above a lot of other mobs in the food chain, although scavs are also good for when they block you from passing completely. You should get some scav reputation, enough for them to let you pass, but i don't think there's a way of them to stop killing your pet lizards. Maybe install the friend of friends mod, which makes lizard taming easier. Both are good in their own ways.

So I've been doing spearmaster's campaign for a bit and I was able to befriend some lizards, only problem is that scavengers attack lizard. So do I just switch sides or stick with lizards. I sort of want to know this about each campaign.
