Developers aim for an experience in a single player game.
If said experience is ruined because of a bug or an exploit, it's in the developers interest to correct it, otherwise they would have spent all development time on crafting an experiance for nothing.
Mods might be your go-to.
Even so there could have been many other ways to deal with it other than nerfing everyone's exp and forcing those who don't want to groundhog over and over through the story for levels.
Yeah but to be fair LL and NG+ go together, the 300 LL are there for you to slowly level up as you do the 10 NG+ runs. You’re not supposed to max out on your first or even second playthrough. LL and NG+ are for the players that will consistently play the game and as time goes on they have something to gradually work towards. There’s literally no reason to max out on your first or even second NG+ anyways because once you get 30-40 levels over everything else your one shotting everything so it makes no difference wether your level 60 in a level 30 game or level 300 in a level 30 game. Sure being super OP is cool for an hour or 2 but then it’s tiring and flat out boring, there’s no longevity in that. The type of people that want to max out immediately are the type of player to put the game down shortly after getting to LL300 and that’s not what Techland wants or who they made the update for. I don’t think they should’ve completely nerfed the XP but exploiting volatiles should never have been a viable way to level up, you should get just enough XP to make it worth killing infected on your way to quests and objectives. If you don’t want to put the work in you’re probably not the target audience and that’s okay. Fact is you can still max out within a week or 2 depending on how long you play and what your doing so it’s really not that bad, if your playing consistently even for a couple hours a day you’ll max out within a month tops, still faster than both DL1 and 2 excluding boosting.
I am the type that likes to play for the combat, but losing the exp dampens the point. Now it doesn't even seem worth it to even kill anything and just waddle past.
Understandable that’s why I said it should be just enough XP to make it worth killing infected on your way to objectives and exploring, I think they overdid the nerf, but it definitely needed fixed.
true, I played this practically everyday with my brother. He quit due to the exp nerf cause we would stand out in the plaza at night and just fight Volitiles for shits and giggles.
But now we cant even earn a single point after 10 or so.
If techland wants to do this it would be nice to have another alternative, running through the story and side quests over and over without any change just makes it a monotonous drag after 3 or so play throughs. At least reward us with legendary varients of the quest items like willams knife and stuff.
or let us even do what dl2 did and exchange something for the levels
