after 2-3 hours sometimes shorter i can be doing something and the game will cause the whole console to turn off. I've had longer sessions than these on other games but havevnt had a problem like this at all until now.

I'm just some rando, and not saying it's a good solution but just until it's fixed... does your console get good airflow where it is standing? Instant turn-off is often a sign of overheating when the colsole turns off to protect itself from damage.
A lot of people seem to have issues after playing for 1-2h recently. Some said it can be connected to sleeping, that it tends to get worse after you sleep.

i have it on a cooling stand in a spot not to close to a wall so i dont think thats the problem
before i got it i could feel the console being real hot but now with the fan when it happens its just warm usually but not hot enough to turn off id assume
