#Volatiles Being Too "Hard"

I just wanted to get some of your opinions. I recently made a video of me fighting volatile hordes on Brutal difficulty. A few people commented that the volatiles are too hard—even though I clearly mentioned I was playing on Brutal. One person even said they won’t get the game because the volatiles look too tough, and another said it’s absurd that they’re that strong.

My response was that if you want an easier time killing volatiles, just play on Easy. Personally, I think it makes sense that they’re so challenging on Brutal. They rule the night, and it’s good that they’re hard to kill—but they’re definitely not impossible.

I play on Survival and think they are hard to kill/genuinely scary lmao but they shouldn't be easy to kill lol

late rain
#

Volatiles are supposed to be hard

#

Unlike dl2... Lmfaooo what a joke

jaunty karma
#

They're the same strength and aggressiveness as DL1. I missed them and nests in 2. They're literally the things that go bump in the night. It would be depressing if they were easy

marble nimbus
#

I just wish there was an easier way to avoid them like in DL1 personally.

I do like that you don’t have a CONSTANT minimap on your screen, but if Kyle had like a fitbit or something that had a map then at least you have a chance at avoiding them

marble nimbus
# late rain A Fitbit would be cool

I feel like they could make it where you can choose between wearing that, or the watch to keep time to make it semi balanced, I guess?

I don't know if that makes much sense but I feel it'd make it so you can choose to either tell when to go inside, or being able to at least move around somewhat safely at night

next dove
#

Two of them

#

One when it becomes night

#

And another when the volatiles come out

#

Maybe 3 actually

#

One when the daylight zombies get more powerful

marble nimbus
#

I'm not really talking about that-- I mean like maybe seeing volatiles on your compass, or maybe even being able to somehow see their sightlines again like we could in DL1

languid ember
#

So a UAV

pseudo gazelle
#

I miss volatile battles. I can't even survive solo with what I think are max gear - 42% parkour damage, 10% melee and power attacks 3% and when you have 5 volatiles coming at you, beast mode ain't gonna cut it. The 2 or something uv bars I had think just makes them run idk haven't tried it

robust granite
#

Using the booster inhalers to your advantage though really help in those fights

late rain
pseudo gazelle
#

it did help in DL2. Of course, damage % was much higher you can stack

wanton smelt
#

Leave em be. They were a joke in 2 even on nightmare in the end game. The strat was to farm them humping UV bars while jacked up on inhibitors. Repeat with a good weapon and some legend levels. It feels even to take 1 or 2 down, then run before you die. Brutal does feel like nightmare to me, and there is even hud off options to toggle for volatiles like 2s nightmare which was permantly off. So when we get legend levels I’d imagine a new difficulty will account for them and they become more killable if one plays on brutal.

This is a new game. At some point, a few months ago, we basically started treating The Beast as the next entry in the Dying Light series. Maybe it doesn’t have ‘3’ in it, but for us, it is Dying Light 3

#

Google

next dove

99% chance they use dying light 3 or scrap numbers entirely

Point is that they’ll use 3 or scrap numbers

#

No shit this is the third instalment of the dying light franchise

lean forum
#

I think their a bit too easy i feel like their easy to escape

lean forum
late rain
#

They're literally faster than you

lean forum
#

With the grapleing hook use it to swing insted of doing your kick or pull ability with it shen you hit like half way on the swing let go and youll go like 30 and continue doing that then youll be like 130

#

And with trucks you conserve your uv light to when a volatile hops on and it instantly hops off then you can swap into another truck and repeat

late rain
#

You gotta rely on always having a truck nearby

#

And then hope the volatiles don't swarm you as soon as you exit it lol

next dove
#

It still took the volatiles like 5 seconds to get to where I was once I was in the uv zone

#

They’re obviously slower

late rain
#

For some reason they don't attack you while you're climbing but volatiles have had no issue catching up to me

#

Must be a difficulty thing or something else

next dove
#

I wasn’t even full sprinting tho

#

The way volatiles are they shoulda been on my ass before I even made the first jump off that ramp

late rain
#

Or something else

#

Because volatiles catch up to me

#

They are much faster multiple people have said this

next dove
late rain

#

We are a human volatile ourselves

late rain
#

🤷

lean forum
#

Volatiles are slower inside of dl1 you need to be constently climbing to not get hit and you still got hit

#

They’d take like a second until they caught you when you used the grappling hook inside dl 1

lean forum
#

And plus if you go into a dark hollow while their looking and chasring you they cant enter

bitter raptor
#

i agree because even on story mode those mfs be moving like ray lewis with the chemistry of 2020 lakers

late rain
#

Sorry to tell you

lean forum
# late rain They aren't slower

They gotten slower or we gotten fast i mean i could run in a straight line and it will take them like 9 seconds to catch up unlike in dl1 where it takes them 5

late rain
#

I don't know what to tell you

#

They're faster in dltb

#

Just a fact

lean forum
#

Night time in dltb is the in between of DL2 and Dl1

I don’t think they’re too hard by any means they’re almost perfectly balanced. They’re fast, aggressive, scary as hell, will follow your flashlight back to you. And can easily kill you if you’re not careful, they’re the apex predators of the night that’s how they should be. DL2 made it wayyy to easy to the point it’s just not scary anymore you can literally fist fight groups of them while yoinked off the boosters. Even with Boosters on TB if there’s more than 2-3 of them they’ll kill you, in beast mode it takes 4-5 to take you down. As for them being slow? Ain’t no way everytime I look back they’re hawking me down until I climb something or grapple to get distance. And even then they’ll start sniping me with their acid spit, I’m pleased with the current Volatiles and I think this is how they should be going forward, they’re extremely tough but not impossible it’s always better to avoid them if you can.

high escarp
#

i play on brutal and i can easily beat their ass with my police baton. theyre balanced lmao they just swarm you way too quick since they spawn out of stupid ass places

marble nimbus
#

considering in lore I'm pretty sure they take up to only like 1-2 months for a volatile to form, so it would make sense how many of them there would be, especially in an area with lots of dark condensed areas

crane was captured while protecting 2 guys

he killed more than 1000 zombies

and only after that gre could take him over

That’s exactly what I said

We were still a human volatile hybrid after being weakened by protecting the scientists

wispy pawn

#

dawg i thought u said crane was weaker than the volatiles

I meant we are an apex predator just one that’s exhausted from beating tf outta a thousand zombies

# next dove You mean playing as a night hunter? It’s not Kyle

Did not mention Kyle although players have said that's what had happened to Crane that he turned into the night hunter, which is a pretty good conclusion seeing how DL1 ended depending on what ending you chose. Playing BTZ night hunter is the only way to be an apex pred

pseudo gazelle
late rain
#

It's very obvious that he's not

late rain
#

Lmfao

next dove
# pseudo gazelle Did not mention Kyle although players have said that's what had happened to Cran...

He is not a night hunter, they look completely different and there’s no working theory behind it. It was always a headcanon with little to no evidence proving it. When crane exited the sewers at the end of the following, he was hallucinating because the virus tried to raid his mind as-well as his body, so he saw claws. He didn’t actually transform into a volatile, just a crazy human to other ppl

marble nimbus
next dove
#

He didn’t turn into a volatile

#

He was hallucinating

#

Like wtf

marble nimbus
#

that’s his lip.. not his jaw

next dove
#

Part of his upper jaw

#

To be clear

#

I’m not saying he isn’t a volatile human hybrid

#

However

#

He didn’t transform into a volatile

#

Like the mother

#

That much is obvious, because he was free for 9 whole years before being caught by the baron

#

That’s more than enough time to transform completely into a volatile lookalike

marble nimbus
#

his entire spine had to be reconstructed at the very least so we can’t say he didn’t undergo any transformations then— that and the infected eye he has too

next dove
#

The baron gave him the infected eye

marble nimbus
marble nimbus
next dove
#

I could be wrong

next dove
#

Where is the confirmation that they remade his spine tho

marble nimbus
#

well the internal struggle yeah but he had already been “immune” to the virus (fairly certain this is new retconned lore)

marble nimbus
next dove
#

If that happened irl Kyle would not be moving the way he does at all

#

You don’t get spinal reconstruction, while being tested on for years and go straight back into parkour, you’d snap your spine

#

I’m pretty sure it’s just an ageing feature, my spine kinda sticks out like that

#

Like, it looks darker in the middle of my back

marble nimbus
next dove
#

Bro this is them taking his stem cells ffs they didn’t do a spinal reconstruction surgery

marble nimbus
#

so I kinda feel like that’s just a moot point in the sense of “fuck physics” according to techland

next dove
#

They’re all injection dots/ holes

#

That’s not a cut scar

marble nimbus
#

Idk man I’m just going off of what was said by Olivia— Hallucinations weren’t outright stated, but him getting “fixed physically” was

next dove
#

Shows him with the claws, then It takes them away immediately as he says that

#

It was hallucinogenic

#

No claws, just looking like the beast

#

Also I was wrong about his eye

#

It came from drinking the vial

#

No claws

#

Either it comes and goes and the most he gets is volatile hands, or he’s hallucinating

#

We only see his hands at the end of the following

next dove
#

They’re near identical in skin colour (red/ purple/blueish), black veins, extremely developed muscle

#

That scar you’re regarding on his jaw is tiny

#

Here’s what I’m taking from both the videos:
kyle looked like this⬆️ and they managed to “restore” his humanity by eventually getting him both back in control of his mind and his body by stabilising it in some way. (same with Aiden) when she regards “internally” she doesn’t mean his internals have “changed” per say. She means his dna entirely (human but not human) so that was another matter they had to deal with

wanton smelt
#

so thankfully at least the beast went back to blueprints and vendors. And hopefully avoid weapon loot boxes lol
