yes, only certain weapons like axes get an upgrade by 1 dmg

Looks like all weapons have a defined value they upgrade to rather than it varying on its base stats
because if I upgrade the bat, it will only increase by 2 like Velross mentioned.
But both are 162 post upgrade

its funny when it works even with UV flashlight when i was upgreading it yesterday it said -2839890 dmg did nothing negative tho bc i can still use it and it works on zombies

Sorry for the ping but wondering if this is getting fixed with the coming patch? Im not finding any better weapons, am out of repairs and upgrading my weapon makes it weaker while all zombies around me are getting stronger 🙁

My suggestion in the meantime would be to use Dying Light Outpost and get the axe from your stash! There was also a bat/blueprint released.
In the top of your stash, tab to right and it will open redeemable rewards.

Would be great if the oitpost actually worked lol i was finally able to get it to aknowledge me owning dltb today but still not able to claim the axe

Ahh, tough. a friend was having the same issue. The bat should’ve been given out to everyone I think, it’s alright
