Restarting game resets several settings

In DL2 via Steam (version 1.24.2p), every time I restart the game, three things happen:

1. Gamma settings reset
2. Keybinds reset
3. Default save resets

To clarify #3: opening the game would always offer "continue campaign" for a specific save, regardless of what was last played. I ended up deleting the save, and now nothing is selected on restart. Aiden is in starter Pilgrim gear, "continue campaign" is not an option, Tower Raid shows a lock icon, etc.

I've seen posts and one support request here that suggested it's an antivirus issue, but the recommended fix (adding DL2 executable to Controlled Folder Access) has made no change.

Nothing here I can't quickly work around every restart, but would be grateful for any ideas on how I might resolve. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem, but I've been playing it since recently. When I close the game, it resets to the same level as the first time I opened it. Were you able to fix it?
