#Steam Achievements not working after resetting them

I decided to reset my achievements on Dying Light 2 as I wanted to replay the game and earn them all again. I reset them on Steam using the Steam console and the command "reset_all_stats 534380". The command worked however I now can't unlock achievements in-game. No matter what I do the achievements won't unlock. I've tried starting a new save, re-installing the game, nothing works.

I decided to contact Techland customer support, they told me to re-install Steam. Hesitantly I tried doing that however I still can't earn achievements. I'm posting here as a last ditch effort to attempt to resolve the issue.

your best bet is maybe to use a steam achievment manager tool that might help you

#

if that would not help resetting the whole instance of the game could help

obv if you want to regrind the game just dont use the give function of it

slim ocean
tranquil cobalt
#

for example
if player.killedzombies{give achievment}

#

but if there is no function to check whether the player have those achievments locked than it was useless to reset them

#

try to download a version older instance of the game and see if the game gives achievments

#

obv clean out your save folder

#

I am just speculating tho as techland is the one who made the game

#

at least some game does it

I'll link you the july4th build of the game

Ok. I'm actually familier with SteamDB. I just haven't used it for this purpose

#

you will need these

#

cause you know

#

steam console

#

where do you have steam installed

slim ocean
#

Default directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

tranquil cobalt
#

depending you'll have to setup a junkpoint/link

#

how much space do you have on it?

slim ocean
#

Like a terabyte and a half

#

Storage won't be a problem

tranquil cobalt
#

then it's cool lol

#

just download the depots

#

I would sey merge the folders if you know what you do

#

but ask if you don't know what you are doing

slim ocean
#

Before proceeding what is the end result of this. Are you suggesting playing the whole game on this older version?

tranquil cobalt
#

the game probably stores the achievments somewhere

#

and I don't know which file does it

#

if any does

slim ocean
#

Ah I see

tranquil cobalt
#

techland's response was not better either

slim ocean
#

Ya lol. They've been less then helpful so far

tranquil cobalt
#

btw if you just reinstall the game

#

for example

#

you just delete the game with steam

#

it will download the same files

slim ocean
#

Also in this case downloading an older version won't work as I'm playing through the game with a couple friends

tranquil cobalt
#

if you want a clean install , remove the whole folder manually and do an integriy check

slim ocean
tranquil cobalt
#

not really

#

or I don't know yet

#

I have not reinstalled steam for achievments as of yet

#

XD

slim ocean
#

Lol gotcha

#

I don't think I understand the difference between deleting and re-installing the game vs removing all files and doing an intregreity check. Wouldn't they both do the same thing? Both would result in the entire game being re-downloaded

#

What am I missing?

tranquil cobalt
#

that if steam "removes" the game for you

#

for example

#

if you have mods installed it will somehow download the mods for you

#

I don't know how it did it for me

#

my game was broken as hell

slim ocean
#

Interesting

tranquil cobalt
#

I wanted to reinstall and it downloaded the whole thing down again

#

so I thought to myself, if I do an integrity check with an empty folder, it will just download the game itself

slim ocean
#

If what you say were true then wouldn't I also keep my local saves? Cause when I first deleted the re-installed the game I first disabled cloud saves and I lost all my saves when I re-instaleld the game

tranquil cobalt
#

that might just deleted your save folder entirely

#

cause no cloud save

slim ocean
#

I see

tranquil cobalt
#

but

#

you can still find your saves

#

in the documents folder

slim ocean
#

Nah I backed up my saves before so I'm good there

tranquil cobalt
#

Users\user\Documents\dying light 2\out-save_backups

#

the game literally does save backups 💀

#

but the steam folder has saves too

slim ocean
#

Well I'm glad to know that now lol

tranquil cobalt
#

the more you know

slim ocean
#

I'm halfway through re-verifying the game

tranquil cobalt
#

hope it fixes it

#

If not I will skim through tl's files

#

I will start now

slim ocean
#

Ya I manually deleted the Dying Light 2 folder and then verified integrity of files

slim ocean
tranquil cobalt
#

this is me

#

you can see me everywhere

#

lol

slim ocean
# tranquil cobalt welp tryna my best to help everyone

Well I've got an update! I got it to work. I did two things and idk which one fixed it lol. I manually deleted the game and then verified the integrity of the files. Then while it was downloading I went into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\315061690\534380" and deleted the folder "534380" which contains all my saves + some other profile data. After that I started getting achievements again

#

But this was not without sacrifice

tranquil cobalt
#

so it was the save files

#

I only found bounties

#

go to the g

#

prolly the sbk or sav files contain the achievment variables

#

thank techland

slim ocean
slim ocean
#

Here's the problem though. While I did backup my save, when I added it back to the game only one of the saves is actually appearing. And its an old save I don't care about anymore

tranquil cobalt
#

you need both the sbk and sav file

slim ocean
#

Also the save that got saved was an endgame save meaning when I loaded it I got all my damn achievements back XD. So I have to do the whole process again lol

slim ocean
tranquil cobalt
#

welp was happy to help lol

#

we got it figured out

#

write up a guide somewhere so that achievment hunters can do this

slim ocean
#

For sure

#

You said there were auto backups of my save right?

tranquil cobalt
#

in the documents

#

it saves

#

not really

#

but it kind of saves

slim ocean
#

?

#

I was hoping to try and get my save back

tranquil cobalt
#

like for example of save file2 is overwritten

#

then the save file 2 in the documents folder is overwritten XD

#

just try to put them back

#

it might help you

slim ocean
#

Ah I see lol

tranquil cobalt
#

just backup your save

#

before you do it

slim ocean
#

What save? The only save I would care about is the one I'm trying to get right now

tranquil cobalt
#

the save you have

slim ocean
#

Oh gotcha

#

Ya the documents save didn't work

#

I'm just gonna go through the whole achievement reset progress steps again and then start a new save. Thanks for the help!

tranquil cobalt
#

did you remove the file extension?

#

like the backup saves are .bak

#

backup saves

#

original saves

#

try to remove the .bak at the end

#

if it does not help I can help with that otherwise

#

tl does not host a server for cloud saves

slim ocean
slim ocean
tranquil cobalt
slim ocean
#

Sure thing. I'm gonna go through the achievement reset process again in the meantime

tranquil cobalt
#

yeah the document saves

#

are obsolete

#

welp sad to see

slim ocean
#

Damn

tranquil cobalt
#

it gets ovewritten the moment the game starts

#

so if you had no save the backups got overwritten with literally nothing

#

welp have fun hunting those achievments

#

this was one hell of a headache XD

slim ocean
#

Thanks again for the help
