Can't give weapons to a friend?

I've dropped my weapon for a friend and it says he can't pick it up because it's mine. We're the same level, it's a weapon I don't need, but there's not even a setting that I can see that lets me change this. Am I really blind to some setting or is this just how things are now?

Like if this is an unchangable thing this is kinda dumb, I like being able to help my friends farm for weapons they need :/

event / dlc weapons and firearms cannot be shared

I was in his lobby and one of the early missions for it was selected, the one to go to the place you meet ciro.

When you drop a weapon to your friend on his screen it says "This item belongs to another player" the player who dropped it will have to back away from the weapon until the person can pick it up

Event and DLC weapons cannot be traded anymore. It was patched.
