If i join a game, wich it doesn't consistently do, my game instantly crashes

A lot of people are having this issue. Support tickets have been submitted and crash logs sent to the dev team but sounds like they need to release a hotfix

Tested deleting data files and validating files on steam
Tested toggling new graphics options on/off
Tested hide backpack feature on/off
Tested running steam as administrator
Tested creating a new save file and trying multiplayer once getting to the Bazar
Tested uninstalling and re-installing game
Tested selecting Continue>With Event main menu selection
Tested selecting Continue>Without Event main menu selection
Tested with text chat on & off
Tested starting game with Online option set to Singleplayer then turning it to public

ive had some minor results turning the even off so opting out of it seems to have done the trick for me havent crahsed yet

Damn that's good! Try tried again myself and still crashing but happy to hear yours has stopped!

been playing now 3 hours not a single crash varify your files again and dont play the even opt out of it should hopefully fix yours too
