Dear community,
New dying light 2 player here ! I am enjoying the beginning of the game so far and feel severely underpowered. Not surprising, I'm a beginner, I have a ton of levelling up to do ! BUT when night comes, there are just so many Volatiles roaming around even on the roof that I just cannot reach any night activities without triggering a chase even when trying my absolute best to stay stealthy. I understand that this is due to the recent summer update and I wanted to ask if it was possible to remove the roaming Volatiles altogether? For experienced players I see how this can increase the challenge but newcomers like me, it just remove any sort of fun at night and prevents me from accessing inhibitors ...
Thanks in advance for your responses !
#Remove Roaming Volatiles?

So ? There could have been an option or smth for new players to dampen the presence of volatiles in the beginning or just an option to start a "vanilla" game. Because it's really ridiculous to have like 10 volatiles around you at all times when you have 100 health ....
But anyways thanksfor your answer
No
Switch to easy ig thats the only real thing to add on
Their reasoning is that the night time is supposed to be high risk, high reward sort of thing, I suggest learning how to use high grass to hide when necessary to help with not being spotted, if you want to have a better chance at fighting them, then UV is adviseable
you can literally outrun volatiles by just running around
You have a crap ton of safezones
Dl1's easy mode nighttime is harder than dl2 hardmode
The amount of comments I see regarding people's hate for Volatiles becomes more and more astonishing every time I see a new complaint. All I gotta say is: Try harder.
Now that I've started to get the hang of things I start to do more stuff at night but it requires a bit of planning like unlocking a nearby safe zones to reduce traveling time. So indeed it's not as bad as I thought but still pretty annoying to be surrounded by three Volatiles on a roof 10 meters away from a dark zone and they so happen to walk into your hiding spot. Just gotta get gud I guess...
its unbelievable how much this community shits on newer players starting out dying ligh 2, its impossible for new players with these volatiles spawning on roof tops, you dont have the right gear to do anything against them, you just get annihilated as soon as you leave the safe zone. They should have Player test this, and made a setting in the Main menu where you can chose the challange you want. instead of fucking over all the casual/newer players.
someone made a new video on how the game isn't hard check it out
Game is way too easy tbh. I wish u didn't feel like Spider-Man mixed with Batman and a hint of super superman once you complete the story
Im talking about beginning not for endgame
You're basically asking techland to remove something they just added 2 months ago
Mfs complaining about no roaming volatiles and now they want them removed?
Play silent and sneek
!
I never sayd removed, I say that it needs more balancing, cuz the game is way to unbalanced right now. Its not intended how it is right now for night missions, its interfering with missions
Im sorry sir
Get well soon
Play on easy and if you want a challenge play on hard. Farm trophys and upgrade the inhalers. They will help you for the nights. You dont need them on max level. Mid is enough at the start. And the mats can you bought at the witch with her buddy and the long questline. Dont know the name of her.
Roaming volatiles is the best thing ever happened to dl2. Night is time of horror and pain. Like in dl1, you should feel adrenaline through the night. If it's to hard, play at day time. Btw it's a parkour game. Run, jump, fight, runaway, repeat. Best tactic in dl 1 and now for dl2.
In both DL1 and DL2, there are repeated forms of "Night is deadly, don't roam when the sun goes down". DL2 focuses on a far more dangerous form of the THV virus. There's no logical reason to make night easier than it is
Did you ever see it from the dev side, who brings te money to the devs, not the die hard no livers, its the new people buying the game, and what happends if the game is to unbalanced and not fun at al to start out, they refund, what wil happen then the player base wil shrink lesser money coming in and Tencent wil interfere, and make our beloved dying light game trash. Dont believe me?, do some research on Tencent.
Night should be difficult at the start, that's my point
I dont mind the volatiles in the game, I am glad they are back but there must be some balancing
Just outrun them and they go away
You don’t have to fight
If you literally just pick a direction and run they’ll stop
Exactly, parkour is the main thing besides some combat
It is... by the day. It's intended to be a threatening thing to hear the bazaar's bells or PK's alarm of sunset soon approaching
Also do this, it’s really not that hard to use your survivor sense which tells you where like every volatile is in a mile radius and which direction they’re facing, makes stealth incredibly easy, and if a chase starts then try again later
Thank you ! Now I'm pretty high level so much less scared of the volatiles but damn in the beginning they were such a pain in the ass because they just one shot you ...
Just so you know, I just so happen to have downloaded the game like a week after the update so I had no clue it was part of an update or watev
Getting good
get good
Nice
He got gud
In the beginning, on hard difficulty, the game is ever so slightly harder. You're just terrible at the game

In regards to the volatiles it's a simple process to fix actually.
All they would have to do is reintroduce howlers instigating chases for easy mode and make volatiles appear at level 3 and 4.
For normal mode have roaming volatiles far more sparsely with some howler's peppered throughout and the same Chase experience.
The way it's designed now is perfect for hard mode. In reality other than storyline bosses volatiles are supposed to be the Apex zombie. It would make sense to utilize them in difficulty scaling.
Howlers in easy is a nice way to make i not that difficulty for new players. And roaming Volas at High difficulty
Repeating a previous point, it has both logical and lore reasons. Here's both:
- Lore - Why are there alarms for PKs and Survivors? It's so people can rush home to hide from the incoming threat (volatiles). The n8ght doesn't have the natural UV protection that the day does.
- Logical - Night in DL was always meant to be overly difficult. It ties into the lore with the fact that warnings are present for it (both games) . Look at DL1's catchphrase of sorts - Good night, Good luck.
Kinda tired so idrk how to say this stuff any better
nah bro u spitting facts
and yeah. night is supposed to be hard. you kinda just have to deal with it.
Thanks man, but yeah it's only not hard for high levels bc There's a lowwww ceiling for the game's free roam difficulty
join a game with a higher player at the same story level can help advance your game or allow others to join your game. This game is all about being resourceful and how to problem solve. It is tough and experienced the same thing years back when I first played DL1 how extremely challenging it was and planned to quit until another higher level player helped me, it made a world of difference. Your reaction is pretty common for all new players, keep at it and you'll do fine!
They haven't even fixed the floatyness and unrealisticness of the dropkick. What makes you think they are going to rework the entire night system again
what makes you think they wont?
Too much time and resources just to please 1% of the community
As long as there is no nerf on Hard there it is good now.
bro forgot it's a survival game
You know that the me so skilled me so hardcore, look me so good people are the small percentage of the players😂, because they already lost 3k Average players after the june update.
Funnily enough, those people are just above the environment's difficulty level. Don't explore at night if it's too hard at your point in the game
I cant skip it because there are night missions, Dying light 2 is more with night exploration, farming throphys is almost undoable so no its not possible to play only day.
the further you go the less of a problem they will be
they will no longer be a problem when you reach the paraglider and grappling hook
Or UV lamp, that shite is ridiculously unfair against volatiles, u are able to interrupt attacks and turn fearsome volatiles into punching bags as there is little they can do.
<.< I've had a few vollys and virals immuned to UV lamps
They'll walk into camps rip everyone to shreds then leave
I have encountered that only as a glitch in coop not that long ago
S t e a l t h
It was added to make the night time harder, given how easy and peaceful it was beforehand. So, I speak for the majority of the community ; FUCK No
Also, damage scales. No matter what amount of health you have, if the volatile scales to your rank, it always does the same % of damage to you
unless its a rank below / above you
Wow So suprised someone wants it to be removed:) Guys soon u will complain there is zombies in dl^^
^
Literally this
Yes remove all zombies from the game
No longer Dying light but empty light
Not "Dying Light" "Living Night"
Nah gotta remove Human NPCs as well
The community asked for roaming volis so deal with it
Oh God people still answer this trope ? It's fine I dealt with the roaming Volatiles, I was not asking for their removal just a slider or an option for early new games to deactivate their spawn at night. So the beginners I was could get acquainted with the game before getting shit on by the volatiles. But indeed at higher levels it's a lot of fun to have these "harder" chases, I read that before they used to spawn at chase level 3 which sounds very boring. In any case I'm enjoying the game a lot now !
Indeed ! Now I can actually have fun with them rather than trying my best to avoid them
That's exactly why they were added. To make the night time more difficult and "scary" for beginners
Nope it was for more experienced players wanting a challenge when Starting a new game
That, and beginners. It was mainly tailored towards experienced players, yeah, but also a bit towards beginners
because the night time was already easy enough without the volatiles
@rough mirage didn't have enough candies (5) and ran away scared losing 29 fear!
Make less roaming volatiles on modes like easy at least
Game is so hard for new players
I play on Hard
