#Can't seem to clean the game of a modded file, game stutters and freezes when i load into the game.

For context:

I installed a popular parkour physics mod before the "good night good luck" update came out, because I wanted to see if that mod was any good, tho I didn’t use a mod launcher (cause im very silly) so I dragged it onto my normal data files

Once the update came out, I deleted the game and reinstalled it so it would remove the mod, that way i can experience the game normally

Turns out ever since this update, I’m the only one that’s having issues with intense stuttering, I know the mod is gone because it has its own data file that you just delete, and theres no message to tell me that its got a modded file, but unfortunately I think some traces might’ve messed it up, which is why im assuming the rendering is going crazy and freezing the game every second I move. this is also not a pc hardware or driver issue, because it would’ve affected the performance of other games more performance heavy and theyve been running flawlessly

Ive done the following:

  • uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice in a day

  • verified both times to ensure it ran properly

-checked for updates on my drivers,

  • deleted my download cache

none of these have shown improvements, and it only seems to have gotten worse because its causing the same issues in the main menu.

if anyone knows a way to ensure the files are cleaned up and wont delete my save id greatly appreciate it, this game has become unplayable for me now which sucks because i really wanted to have fun in the current state of this game

another update to it, i tried doing an overlay to see if there were any spikes in the hardware utilisation and it seems to crash when i open it

#

idk what has happened but if it keeps it up and no apparent fix is possible it might be worth me reinstalling everything again

One final update:

There’s a fix for this, but I’m going to have a look into it tomorrow, for now tho just know I moved files to another storage device, and it seems to have worked. Im curious if it has anything to do with the type of storage divide
