i’ve tried everything. uninstalling and reinstalling, verifying game cache, i have islc installed and running, i have hardware acceleration turned on for dying light 2, i have tried adjusting settings in game and can’t get anything to work past medium. i don’t know what caused this, and it’s been happening since roughly summer of last year, i believe, or even earlier. it’s completely turned me off of playing the game. i have a laptop, running an nvidia rtx 3080, intel core i7 11th gen, 16 gb of ram. please help

seems like you're doing the right things

have you tried going to the 3d settings for dl2 in the invidia control panel and setting 'max framerate' to off?

Maybe forcing the game to always use your 3080?

I don't wish to burst your bubble, but laptop gpus are not the same as desktop gpus

For example, your 3080 is the equivalent of a 1080ti desktop, and when I was running a 1080ti on DL2, it would stutter if anything was set beyond medium textures as well.

🤷‍♂️

man,, that seriously sucks. i actually had no idea, because other games would run very well on max settings, like codmw2 and days gone.

I had the same issue with my 1080ti. I can only run the game on medium textures and stuff, otherwise it would start being choppy

#

the problem is that the more you run around, the choppier it gets over time. For example, high textures in the intro is fine, but in the city, terrible.

You can try using this software called ISLC (intelligent standby list cleaner) to at least clear the ram so it stutters less and you dont ahve to restart the game every 30 minutes

#

but still at medium 😦

#

i have 48gb of ram and a 4070ti and it runs fine, kinda (depending on the area) with everything on max

#

but it's still not super great tbh

#

man,, im really sorry to hear that :(

#

sounds like its just not up to snuff in terms of optimization

#

cuz other high-demand games run perfectly fine on max settings.

#

i have islc running already, but it isnt doing much

#

what does seem to work, however, are upscalers on performance mode

#

ughh,, it’s not working either

#

i double checked, every single preset gives me lag spikes

#

it’s like a memory leak issue, but only from the game

#

if anyone could please help me, please let me know,, there’s only stable-looking frames on very low settings; it starts giving me lag spikes as soon as i go any higher than “low quality”

#

i don’t remember it running like this before

Do you use an ssd for the game ?

#

it's a game issue. Only way to fix it is to get a better GPU. For example on a 1080ti I could run it on medium and the stutter was negligible with ISLC, but on 4070ti i can run it all maxed out, but have to use 'Frame Generation', "DLSS performance" and set LOD to 100 🙈

The game has a memory leak anyway, I have 48GB of ram and it eats thru it like nothing. Thank god ISLC is clearing that every time tho.

They aren't acknowledging that this problem exists, for some reason.

man,, that seriously sucks

#

i probably wont be able to play the game until i scrounge up enough money for a proper pc, then

#

or until techland decides to fix their bugs

#

you'll likely be able to afford a new gpu before that happens tho

Because loading in textures is dependant on the speed of your hard-drive. You can have the best graphicscard in the world. If your drive is not able to feed it fast enough then you have stuttering. Stuttering is a loading problem.

yeah, i have it installed on an ssd

#

FIXED THIS GODDAMN PROBLEM

#

AND I FEEL LIKE A GODDAMN GENIUS EVEN THO ALL I HAD TO DO WAS ONE SIMPLE THING

#

MY CPU WASNT PULLING THE WEIGHT IT'S SUPPOSED TO AS AN INTEL I7 SO ALL I HAD TO DO WAS TWEAK GEFORCE SETTINGS TO MAKE SURE IT WAS OVERCLOCKED

#

AND IM GETTING 57~ FRAMES MIN ON MAX SETTINGS
