im not sure why this happens but everytime i play DL2, my system and reserve starts to rise from 60gb to 131 gb. maxing out my SSD and causing DL2 to crash and Programs in the background like Discord, Spotify etc. to stop working. No clue why this is happening but it only happenes when im playing DL2

#

above is when i played DL2 until it maxed out my SSD

#

this is after a restart of my pc

#

(I think it has to do with the virtual memory)

#

here is right after the restart, it is on 2gb

#

but when i play DL2, it rises until it cannot rise anymore

#

last time when i checked, it was over 33gb+

#

(i encountered this problem when the 1st year anniversary update came out, don't think it ever happened before that since i did not have the game installed before the 1st year anniversary update)

i tested the game again without having discord on in the background and my system and reserve has not completely bonkers

#

it might be discord that's the problem

#

i will launch the game again with discord in the background to see if my hypothesis is correct

#

so far nothing has changed

#

could be either i messed with the max limit of the Virtual Memory earlier or the fact that i turned off mutiplayer

#

will test again tmr

#

not sure if it fixed itself or did the max limit thing actually work

#

or maybe this was just a one time thing

#

(for anyone curious abt how i changed the mazimum limit of my Virtual Memory)

#
  1. Click Start > All Programs > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory.
  2. Click Change.
  3. In the Maximum size field, set the value to the recommended value shown at the bottom of the window.

Look for Intelligent standby list cleaner

#

it will clean up ram usage

#

Also, idk why anyone at techland hasn't addressed the obvious memory leak :/

I've created a ticket with a summary of whats happening

I've made a long documentation of this issue in the discord server but I'll do a quick summary for this ticket.

I've tracked down the culprit of the rising System And Reserve to the Virtual Memory. Before launching DL2, my S&R's Virtual Memory was at 2.01GB. After playing DL2 for a while, the Virtual Memory rises to 33GB maxing out my Storage and causing DL2 to crash and Applications in the background to fail. This happens even without having discord or other CPU heavy apps on in the background.

The first two image I've attached is before launching the game
(I had 50+GB free before launching the game)

The last two image is after playing until it almost max out my SSD
(It can go up to 0 bytes free. I just stopped it before it can reach that point or else everything would've shut off in the background due to the insufficient space available)

this is what I wrote in the Ticket
