Will there ever be an option to turn off things like lens flare, glare, godrays and whatnot?
I have gotten headaches from playing this game. I often can't see things because some smudge is covering my view. I will sometimes register a smudge as a thing because the effect is not executed realistically.
Example: there's me, in front of me will be a glare, behind that glare will be a zombie, and far behind that zombie will be the sun. In real life, I would be able to see a shadow casting from that zombie as it moves. The front of the zombie would be mostly dark, save for diffracted light illuminating the sides of the front. It would stand out by contrast with the lit surroundings.
What happens in Dying Light 2, I can not see that zombie because this glare does not account for a zombie being in the way. It has no shadow casting toward me, hence the glare is completely covering the zombie. I will have to concentrate in order to see through this glare. It feels like the glare is not part of the world, like it is "on top" of everything, rendered in foreground, just like most viewmodels.
This glare is not realistic, not pretty, it gives me a headache, it is spatially inconsistent, and it is obstructing my view. There is no option to remove it, or to lessen it.
There is a mod, but this makes it so that I can't have legend levels, and for multiplayer, it is a mess.
Could we please have a setting to turn this off?
