#For the love of god Techland

It seemed like you guys supporting mods (like "I am Legion Reborn"), but now you trying to kill mods by locking ingame systems if someone using mods
I dont know why they did it but it kinda ruined the update for me. I used some QoL mods and some mods that just make the game more fun but now i miss out on new content because they decided that despite it being primarily a SP game, modded saves dont deserve new stuff. It's dumb.
Probably not the best way to go about it, that title isn't terribly conducive to constructive criticism. I do agree that disabling legend levels is terribly frustrating, and seems a bit hostile to modders, though. Doesn't seem very healthy for the game's longevity going forward.
Hopefully they will do something about that, it sounds like a dumb decision to turn off legend levels on modded saves.
I doubt you will get an answer here.
Already ask on the steam forum (UNCY), and all I got: DL2 is DRM free now.
For me it looks like an anti tamper online service, maybe executable CRC check. Means you will never get passed this.
RIP datapaks.
I mean it sounds rather backwards, considering we got devtools now.
So, if i mod the game i wont get the new content?
To me, adding the devtools you'd think that they want to embrace the modding community (I'd say that would include modders on nexusmods)
But having legendary levels disabled if there are mods..
I mean, you can get very op if modded and and legend levels are not disabled. Could be the reason.
There are also multiple QoL mods.
I wanna do mods+coop but earlier someone said game wont let me do that.
You could do co-op with other modded people in DL1 couldn't you?
I'd be 100% fine with that, having legendary levels completely disabled.. not so much.
Dunno about dl1 with mods and coop. I completed it alone. Pirated dl2, play it with mods, was a good time back then. Bought dl2 weeks ago, wanted to play with friends but coop is hella buggy and is without mods. At least the game cost me 15$ at the time, would not get for more than that tbh.
I'm pretty much a lonewolf so playing solo is what I do most of the time. Losing access to legendary levels if I mod though.. that I hope is not intentional.
The weird sh*t techland been pulling off i would not be surprised if it were intentional.
Good evening everyone, I had the bug of the 250 levels of legends yesterday without doing anything, it spoils my pleasure and gives me the impression that I have nothing more to do. Is it possible to reset all of this? I have a lot of game hours and I don't want to lose everything And a save rollback is impossible I lose too much if I do this, is there a possible solution? I would like to play the game again quietly as before. Thanks for reading me
This is a different issue, the link was for Caglar.
Wrong thread
I am desperately hoping that this is a temporary thing Techland did in order to troubleshoot and bugfix the legend levels. It makes NO SENSE to disable legend levels for modded games, when we still have access to everything else.
Agreed.
^
There are several mods I think that "clean up" the graphics, like blurry spots when it rains etc.
A bit less visual clutter would be nice, but alas.. mods.. or legendary levels.. can't pick both atm..
nexus one works
Modders found a way to work around it?
None of those have been updated since before the update. Not counting reshade mods (those are limited in what they can do)
Looking and yes, they haven't found a way to work around it yet,.
@verbal mesa Could you check on this? Or is even the discussion of this inane change technically breaking the rules?
I just want to be able to declutter the visuals but I can't do even that or legendary levels are disabled :/
I'll pass on the information and your problems and suggestions but it can be as Uncy said
The other thing is that any mod breaks support, not as the game stops working or suffers but it changing can make us unable to fix anny issues that you will find with your game
And we want to support everyone who plays our game
Thanks
The issue is that even a small modification that has to do NOTHING with Legend Levels... locks the Legend Levels menu permanently until you remove that modification
I do understand, that why I did pass the information further, but this is all I can do
There are no promises unfortunately about this
Thanks 👍
Nice
This was posted today?
Or last week
Ah, I see, last week. So, they will discuss it this week.
Hopefully
YES!! Oh man I'm so happy to see that this is at least on Tymon's radar. That's awesome.
Anyone checked if it still happens after the latest patch?
Still not working for now
Yeah no change yet, unfortunately.
Not seeing any workarounds for it either, sad.
u can play coop with mods
Each person you wanna coop with needs to have the same mods though I think.
I think that was the case in DL1 as well.
For real? Did they allow it witch latest patch or smth?
no it was always like this that u have to have same pak files
game even tells u that u have different files cuz it has checksum or some other thing
Okay, we will do it if its doable. There are so many mods that needs to be in game.
Well, let's see what techland will do about it.
IF they will.
plenty of devs do this thing, it's not rocket science. "warning. mods can affect your experience. techland can't help you if your game misbehaves" come on, it's not like you haven't heard that before. remove this legend levels lock, you know you didn't add that just to "offer everyone support". now everyone can't mod else they lose legend levels, you created that problem.
"we just want to support everyone"
bro nobody believes this shit, you as a team have some personal biases towards modding and some issues with image and responsibility/accountability. i don't know do i have to give you guys therapy just so you'll start seeing reason again?
Again as said above, I did pass on the information as this is all I can on this subject.
I can also repeat that I personally am sorry that you are not able to enjoy the game in the way you want.
I mean, the best you could do is tell them that the majority of their userbase do not support the decision to lock Legend levels. Their way of handling modding is absurd compared to how most companies do it.
"Mods are third-party software and we cannot guarantee your game will work as intended. We are not responsible for your game misbehaving if you are using mods. Warning, use at your own risk."
As for the rest we are not obligated to respond to anything, we are not forced to help or payed to answer. We do it out of our own knowledge of what it is to be a gamer and needing more information or more help. That's why thoes facts do not change that we want to support everyone. We are here to support you, try to fix issues, help out with problems and pass on anything that goes above, so please try to understand that any name calling is out of place.
I guess you're calling me unreasonable and describing my frustration with this game as invalidated and that it shouldn't be directed toward the source that seems not to listen. If you are here as a QA, yeah, you don't have anything to do with this, but you did sign up for the job where you potentially get to deal with frustrated customers.
No i do understand frustration, anger and everything else that people here feel that's why we are responding and trying to help 🙂
I intende to say that the dev team at Techland that works on Dying Light 2 choosing to lock Legend levels is not them supporting people.
I have actually gotten migraines from looking at this awful lens flare, and I can't turn it off without mods, in which case a part of the game is intentionally locked away from me, for the reason that, Techland can't support me if I add mods? Think about how ironic that is, please.
It's been a year since release, I'm certain many people have asked for unlimited mod use and/or access to graphical settings. Where is the support?
Is Techland's mail box just filled with a lot of letters passed on by QA saying 'Hey guys, listen, we appreciate your work, but they're growing restless out there..'
Frankly, it would be nice if there was a spokesperson that would show the community insights into Techland actually working on it
If you look above on the posts in the topic, you can see that Tymon Smyktala said that we are aware of this
Literally show, just describe some relevant piece of code or work problem that's currently causing delay in this feature not being added, that would wash away most of the complaining people do.
Where? I couldn't find this.
Either way, if you are aware of this, then why do you not just remove that restriction? It's like saying you're aware that you're standing on my toe, but you don't pull off your heel. What's up with that?
I'm not a spokesperson, I think the closest to this would be @pastel sandal and still if you would like to re-read the topic it was stated here multiple times that we are aware of this issue and some solutions are being discussed
"You" in this case being Techland.
Ok let me re tag it down here
It's this one
I'll state again that it would help if the community got some insight into this process, since people saying "We're working on it and we're thinking about it" isn't exactly soothing for concern
I know more than a couple companies that interact with their community in this way, and it pays off with customer loyalty.
Really, just create a blog post containing several solutions that are being discussed, and with some reasons pros and cons.
Have someone write that out, it'll not backfire.
Think about it, it's the reason people added loading bars. That way you can actually see what it's doing which is making it take so long, that way you don't get the feeling that it's frozen and not progressing. 🌠
That being said, this decision was made long before release, which poses some concern with the timeframe for the execution of these discussed solutions.
These are very interesting ideas, I can try to pass them on, buy if you would also do that you can do it in #dl2-suggestions
We have no info, so we're left to guess. I'd be glad if you passed on this specific part, since that'll cool people down and it'll build your company an image of transparency and community service, which are some of the best traits of gameproducers.
In the meanwhile, I'll just sit a solid five feet from my screen, since otherwise, I actually get headaches from trying to cope with this awful glare, which is the main reason I started looking for mods in the first place.
I have a post on here describing the nature of this glare and why it does poorly. Honestly, if I was Techland, I would feel ashamed with this whole fiasco. Don't take this personally, you are but QA.
I think that's about all I have to add to this topic. Thanks for listening, have a nice day
Passing information is the most simple thing I can do, so be sure I'll do that.
I don't actually know what your hotbar looks like as the QA class. I imagine it's you deployed on the front line of disconcerted customers and answering questions as well as passing on condensed suggestions.
No problem we are here to do that exactly, listen, pass on the information and help as much as we can. You too try to have a nice day and thank you for the feedback
No, I'm finding and replicating issues in the dev side of the game where we can gather more information about how the game run things. And than passing this information to programers designers and other people in the team.
Being here and replying is mostly just something we do on our own
Oh yeah, also, Techland could do that thing where if saves are loaded that have modded items, that they have an option to force-load these anyway in co-op. It would then delete those inventory items. 🌠
Ok I'll pass on that too 😎
We as in people who work in QA
Basically crush all the savefile's data back into its vanilla format and process anything that doesn't belong there in such a way that the save can, in most cases, still load without any technical difficulties. Currently, people who have had mods on while loading a save, have ruined that save for playing with other people, which can not be reverted in any way as of yet. My friends had to reinstall their game and abandon those saves in order to play coop. 🌠
Interesting, so QA doubles as playtesters.
Yes and no, it's a simplification. You can have different departments of QA different specialities
Like TechQA, DevQA, cQA, fQA and as many others as you need
That makes sense.
But they are also people who are just the best at being gamers or at being bad gamers. It's just depends on what you need
An example of a bad gamer QA would be I think the "Plate, walking through walls" in Skyrim
Where you take a 🍽️ and use it to walk through walls
I remember that.
It would be real nice if the department that handles communication with community were to make a post regarding why certain things are taking so long, with actual excerpts from the process. I imagine it's not that hard to decide to remove disabling of legend levels and add a few warnings and disclaimers, but that's what I imagine, since that's all I can make of what I get to work with.
I think @pastel sandal could maybe help with that. Not sure but tagging him here
Occasionally publishing a post with 'Known Issues' will validate the community's concerns, and then occasionally a follow-up paragraph where the progress on previously noted issues will be shown.
🌠
I can promise this will work wonders, especially given the current disparity between several factions of the userbase, where one says "They've did some work, but they keep missing main points."
Another one: polls on "what would you like us to work on first" and a department of the dev team that will work on this, so that the rest of the team can continue their meticulously debated agenda. 🌠
It's like this, you are a teacher and some kid shows up with no homework. They said their dog ate their homework, which sounds a lot like a common lie, until you hear that their dog passed away due to rabies from interacting with a raccoon- I think you get the gist. We see more of your process, that'll be useful. You can actually 'crowdfund' your dev team's process of finding solutions by interacting with the community, I know a couple popular devs personally and I know of a few teams that do this most effectively, and I know what it looks like to people when that kind of department seems neglected.
Rings of Saturn, People Playground. That last dev actually goes around on his own chatting with people, making steam discussions and actually in the very next update all of those things were fixed. Inertia is fixed in that game because I provided an alternative formula and brought him a collection of complaints and suggestions and ways to fix them! That's an amazing feeling for a player/user/customer/client. The devs actually listen!
You listen, too, and it shows - just saying that you could flex this and it would do more than just build a loyal fanbase: it flexes your wallet in the long run, which allows you to expand your processing facility team and the resources that they have at their disposal.
In short, make a public spectacle of listening to complaints and fixing those bugs, like you did with that big 1.9.0 update. Release hotfixes, start with all the stuff that's easier to do than reworking a game engine, Denuvo is out of the way, might as well start tinkering on QoL, which the community has requested and will immediately love you for.
Also, I apologise for my harsh tone earlier. I like this game and I am a fan of the first game as well, it's just that in this one, I get headaches from certain graphical effects. I'm not the only one, but I'm probably one of the more uncommon ones that also suffer from brain injuries, making me sensitive to distortions, flashing lights in a similar sense to what people with epilepsy have to look out for.
I can't play it for very long because I have to actually go and lie down. If I look around, that glare flashes my eyes. The screen smudging makes my eyes lose focus. It's always on the foreground, even where that would not be realistic. The game shifting focus with that faux-DoF also doesn't help, and there's no way to turn these off except with mods. ⭐
Oh! I got it: a config file for advanced users, and again, a disclaimer that editing these files will "void warranty" and that unfortunately Techland can not officially provide user support for third-party modded content.
The faster and more often you release hotfixes, the more you cash in on this customer satisfaction. Simply making a post that says "We've fixed that bug that makes your animation glitch when you kick, and you can turn off the lens flare!" or one that says "Mods no longer disable Legend levels. Use mods at your own risk!" would definitely draw people in to play the game, again, with friends, who might not have bought this game yet 😉
I think that's clear
That part can be as a separate issue, ill try to look into that
puts on tinfoil hat
It's all connected.
takes off tinfoil hat
But for now I have to go, so won't be able to respond to you soon. Sorry!
So many new messages
This would be fantastic.
Honestly whatever you can do to bring more attention to this issue is much appreciated. I WANT to love this legend level system but not being able to play my modded game has completely crushed any desire of mine to play since the legend levels update.
Same
Hey fellas, any updates from Techland on this issue? It's been almost a month since the 1.9 update. I'm still holding onto some hope that Techland will allow us to mod their game again (while still having access to legend levels)
Unfortunately no.
Maybe next community update will have that.
Damn I hope it doesn't take that long, could be months away. Ah well.
Bump. Techland, I miss my mods. Would love to play with the higher difficulty mods or I Am Legion while still having legend levels access. Make DL2 modding great again!
So, here we area. With at least a fix going halfway. But legendary xp is still disabled if you use any mods. I hope this is not intentional..
Hmm, the legend level xp gain is working fine for me with the extended day/night length modded. What mods are you using?
For me legend levels work right with mods, maybe your mods are outdated or mess with the exp sytem and that couses the error on your side
Saw several others say legend xp was disabled, not tried it myself yet.
