Anyone know a workaround for this? There's one post mentioning this issue in the Steam forums, and the solution for them was to restart the Steam client. I've done this, and restarted my PC, and verified the game files. I'm hoping there's a fix that doesn't involve reinstalling the game from scratch.

Any ideas?

@zenith jewel it shows you've been playing dl2 for a bit over 40 minutes, so i'm assuming you fixed the problem. can you please tell me how you fix it?

So... it's not really a fix, i just kind of got lucky...

#

I've reproduced it 3x, but it's a pain in the ass

#

Actually, let me test one more thing before I write you a wall of text lol

#

okay, so yeah... it's dumb, but it's worked several times now

@low turtle

  1. Make a shortcut to the game .exe (\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dying Light 2\ph\work\bin\x64). I pinned it to Taskbar to make it easier.

  2. Exit Steam completely.

  3. Click the taskbar shortcut to attempt to launch the game. You'll get the same error message, but it will also launch Steam.

  4. While Steam is in the process of launching, continually click the DL2 taskbar shortcut, then his Esc to immediately close the error dialog, and repeat.

  5. Voila! After a few tries, the game will launch.

  6. Laugh at how stupid this is.
