I played on launch and other than the lovely broken game at launch, the game was playable, specifically spec-wise. I dropped the game back in Feb 2022 to allow for these devs to fix shit and returned today and now the game is unplayable. It takes AGES to load, then when loaded, everything seems fine until i move, specifically when I look around with the mouse. When I look anywhere the games freezes until i stop moving. Initially, I thought this was a weird motion blur bug (and it seems that's part of the problem) so i turned that completely off and it no longer freezes as bad but as I run around there's constant stuttering. I

for context, I just got done playing Elden Ring on high settings, often play RDR2 and online on high, yadda yadda and never encounter shit like this.

My pc specs: ryzen 2700, 2060 super, 16 gig ram, installed on hdd (same spot from the initial install), win 10 current updated, game is updated through Steam.

game settings and what I've tried: currently set to default LOW settings (havent had to do this with any game on this pc), tried dx11, 12, always RT OFF, and everything in between and all results are exactly the same. only slight improvement is motion blur all the way off and I still get very annoying constant stuttering.

any ideas on a fix? i literally cannot play this game right now.

Strange, I had a base 2060 not too long ago and it ran fine on dx11 and dx12 at high settings

of course make sure you have updated drivers, and make sure your PC is not overheating for some reason while playing the game, check the temp, also maybe try setting "prefer maximum performance" in the nivida control panel. Also if your card is overclocked, try turning that down a bit

otherwise I would have no idea what is causing that issue other than the game itself

ok, after wracking my brain and trying all kinds of changes, I triple checked my install because i saw somewhere that it runs much better on an ssd. sure enough (STUPID ME), it was installed on the hdd, so i moved things around and the game runs pretty flawless now. still, that's pretty weird. Also to make things more weird, I didn't upgrade my ssd until mid 2022, well after I stopped playing DL2, so on release I was playing this game installed on the hdd and never had as bad of performance as described above.

SO IF ANYONE HAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM: move the install to an ssd (hopefully you have a ssd!)
