@cunning compass If you get invaded by experienced hunters it'll be difficult, if you are beginner then you really don't stand any chance against them. As Aussie said it costs a lot of practice. There are guides that may help you in pinned messages you can feel free to take a look.
Also you can map the quick select key binds in controls which makes switching weapons / equipment instantaneous.

That's right, the damage from both hunter and to hunter is % based, it doesn't matter if you have 100 hp or 275 hp for that. The reason they have 100 hp is to regenerate up to 95 using Legend's health regeneration skill which is faster than medkit's healing. However some sort of exploit exists that allows player to heal far quicker, with same ratio as 275 health but at 100.

Well, first thing is to play a lot and don't worry about winning or losing, most important is leveling up and improving. Use matchmaking and don't invade too skilled players with a lot of hours whenever possible unless you are prepared for it, if it shows green that means it's better matching.
There is guide in pinned message that is very useful.
And most importantly I don't recommend using someone else's save files. You don't want to be apex or high ranked while you are just beginner. People will expect you to play as good as you are supposed to be at that rank and it won't work out well.

Lol first of all, no one uses healing exploit. Its broken.
Second of all, legend regeneration and efficiency only affects medkits.
The recovery to 95 is based off of the agility tree regen perks.
All damage scales to 100 hp. Fall, fire, toxic, etc. Virals and Goons do flat damage.
Critical healing (healing after 4 secs of no damage) is faster than medkit. If you use medkit it cancels crit healing.
If you get downed. And then get revived, ground pound will not insta kill you
You get 25 hp back after revive. Gp and claw do 20 damage to 100 hp.

There is no best weapon for invasions since damage is scaled, it's all about your personal type of weapon category itself. Some experienced survivors will prefer khopesh such as Premium Oriental Khopesh because of its long range, however it's slower compared to short swords which have lower range for example.
Also experienced survivors will suggest crossbow / toxic bolts which works fine against hunter and nests.

The knives are good against nests if you crouch.
But against hunter you mainly want to use one handed weapons. Whenever you bring down hunter to low enough health to kill it with one two handed swing then go for two handed weapon, if it's low enough to die from bow then use bow. But you want to start with one handed weapons because of its best balance in damage, speed and reach.

Its strength is also a weakness because the longer reach can be disadvantageous in tight areas because an object or wall can get in your way while swinging, potentially letting hunter escape. Everyone is kind of not ready when they play invasions first time especially against experienced opponent. I agree with AussieGG, the ranks should have meaning when it comes to matchmaking instead of how it is, Apex Predator can invade and obliterate Prey.
However the biggest downside of locking matchmaking like this would be that you would be pretty much spending hours or even days without finding opponents or matches, since matchmaking is already broken and visibility of matches are significantly reduced.
That brings another problem, how matchmaking works.

@lean heart DFA range is 5 meters and based off of fall speed. So holding your weapon attack in air makes it less likely to activate. Tapping on the other hand increases the success rate since you maintain a higher fall speed.
It was 8 meters in the January update. Reduced to 5 meters in April.

It's Dark Sickle, common at Survivor rank 25 from looting. You can get it in Gold-tier from dockets at Survivor rank 24. It only appears in dockets at Survivor rank 24 though, but you'll still find it from looting at higher levels.

I carry a Blade of Order, a Sickle, and two crossbows.
I don't use two handed because my frames aren't good enough.

I think MMB for use equipment is poor choice, if you want to be shining UV while attacking. RMB is so much better for that.

Yeah, I kind of like being able to attack hunters with 100% energy without obstructing camera mobility, you know. 👌 I change aim to MMB and honestly never really need to aim in BTZ nor throw weapons, I don't use these.

You can use extra buttons if your mouse has any. But Dying Light is unique in my opinion, you really put yourself at huge disadvantage if you don't set up quick select key bindings. Personally I use 1234 for equipment and ZX and B for quick weapon selection, haven't found key for fourth slot so it's scroll up for now.
That is if one is serious about BTZ, he has to set up quick select binds eventually.

It was sort of hard for me to get use to use equipment on RMB, definitely. I used to play with ranged weapons or firearms a lot in Singleplayer, but I quit that and moved to invasions full time, so I thought may as well drop it. I do defiintely use RMB for aiming in other games but whenever I play Dying Light I already know that RMB is use equipment, it made it so much comfortable to use grappling hook especially in mid air.

@leaden jungle There's no best way, it's situational. But usually you want to start with one handed weapon, preferably land tackle and again one handed weapon. Or tackle / one handed weapon and then two handed. But hunter's hp is scaled to number of players and this won't kill it in 2vs1/3vs1/4vs1 unless it has lower health.

How often do people cheat in BTZ mode? I've Only been playing As a human, solo vs the hunter every few in-game nights. Today I decided to try what it's like to play the hunter. And during my second match, one of the humans was teleporting on the map, even outside the map. He was floating on top of nothing, so high I couldn't reach him. He was constantly disappearing and appearing in the air above the nests.
Anybody else noticed such things?
It felt weird. Only my second Hunter game, and a cheater is present?

I see. I don't understand why they would cheat though. I play solo against the hunter, and it's not that hard to win. When there are multiple humans, it's even easier. I myself never enjoyed cheating in a game. Ruins the fun.

@supple hare Agreed, I put some hours into being a hunter recently and ran into plenty of hackers. You’d have the guys that were able to destroy all nests at once, people who can run stupid fast and have a gun with unlimited ammo plus infinite UV, people who can Death From Above you no matter where they are, I even had a dude with a like rapid swing that would essentially OHK me. It definitely takes the fun out of the game when hacking happens but tbh it didn’t happen enough times where it ruined my experience.

People only think normal is for noobs because you heal fast. I think nightmare isn't any harder and it's balanced because if you use a medkit you can keep healing back whatever damage you take without using another medkit. Or if it heals you full hp but is still active, it just heals you back if you take minor damage. It's like a long lasting auto-medkit so uhh I'd tell'em stfu @honest gate
