Modified weapons made with CE dont really affect gameplay aside from insta killing walkers and freezing a goon. Modified grapple has unlimited uses but it can still be played against.
Lately every player I have been matched with who had modded gear like infinite uv, modified elementals, etc got flawlessed, very easily.
People who use those cheats are typically bad players who cant keep up with a fast night hunter and get hit by every single tackle.

I used to play with shield a while ago, stopped using it eventually and switched with firecrackers. Realized firecrackers can actually save lives especially against fast and smart hunters. Shield became more useful after the spits buff though, but I don't know, I go with firecrackers for now.

One of the biggest things, we need to be able to have good recognition of when a runner is in the air from a jump vs jumping.
For helping tackle dodges.
Or rather helping hunters hit tackles better.
And put more skill on the runner for actually timing the dodge vs spamming dodge.
But tackle should be something that's semi-CD based.
Maybe like 2-3 tackles before it has to recharge.
However when you are at full energy you naturally sit at 3 tackles, so leaving combat to regen energy will always bee beneficial in a fight if you need to recover tackles.
I do think though.. a night hunter that's 'burnt out' energy wise shouldn't be able to instantly tendril away, you should have to spend a UV block to actually get that escape.
You break UV for a half second and you can already be gone again.

The system they have for it seems half assed honestly.
Don't get me wrong the entire parkour and the sheer amount that the engine and game actually does is incredible, but the combat system in general feels too much like roshambo vs actual mobile combat.
Your luck in combat has more to do with positioning than actual combat ability in the end... A mobile runner getting trapped in an alley is still going to die if the NH is worth their salt at all.
As soon as the runner tries to leave that alley they are gonna get a NH on their back.

The idea is you're locked in animation anyway if there's another higher priority animation it will take the initiative however sometimes that second animation can be cancelled.

You can but if you don't want to lock out your hook it's worth learning the priority structure.
Hookshot only gets 2 tries regardless if they were canceled/successful/failed to grab anything.
In true high end games having your hookshot's second shot 'down' at an inopportune time usually means death.
Specially if you add in fakes with grapple to draw out a pounce.

It doesn't but it's damage prevents grabs and if you can force them to evade a tackle you'll usually end up chaining downs.
I have brought down 2-3 runners this way.
It's one of those they catch on immediately(or don't :)) but they will usually spend a couple lives on the mistake which is what you count on.

One big thing I do like that people don't seem to realize when you run a crew you don't have to run the solo item series and can actually use things to control the night hunter more 😉 Toxin/bleed bombs ontop of a stunned NH is pretty good.
Or one of my personal things is burning out the NH's energy and then just chucking a UV flare to hold them still.
It doesn't work good in country side but in the city where you have to have vertical movement it's golden.
