there is this ridiculous but genius thing they did with when they implemented your "rest of the body" in Rust. @weary tendon

Ever since Rust came out, your first person viewmodel was nothing but two floating arms that ended at the shoulders. Because that's all you can see when you don't freelook, but since the game has freelook you can see that there is nothing else there... or, you could.
until later they added legs
But these weren't just legs, and they weren't part of your ol' trusty arms either. It was a different viewmodel of your own body. Other players see a different version of your body just like in DL.
But when they added the first person body, they didn't just cut off the head because if you looked down you'd see a gaping hole where your neck would begin. So they took a full character model, gave it the third person animations, but at the part of your torso where you stop seeing it, they stretched it far and directly behind your head so wherever you looked you couldn't see the upper part of your body that's simply stretched behind you and you could only see your legs and abdomen...

So, in Rust you are two floating arms, and you run with legs that aren't part of the same body. But you would never know because the only way to see that stretched part is to look so far down/up you possibly can, and then use freelook and turn your camera to the opposite direction, you'll see something very cursed and in fact, what could be the rest your body, and your second set of arms, but instead of getting four arms and becoming a true human cockroach, that part of the body will forever remain stretched, and frozen.

It only makes the game experience better knowing you have a separate head and arms floating behind your neck, always so close yet out of your vision.
