the galaxy is huge, having to jump in on a locked destination, can be anything, is normal c.c
dunno if it's different now from alpha/beta days
but the way it's now is just normal for the game...
each system has their own distances with different things
there's websites that allow you to search where to find things, it also shows how far away things are from the point where you exit the FSD jump between a system
well you lock onto whatever it is (except for planets, so mostly stations and other signals), then just drop out of supercruise
it's not like eve online or w/e where you just slow down enough to just glide into the station's docking bay
might work with a smaller game, but maybe what Elite has is what it needed for a galaxy this size
supercruise is different from actual normal space
there is a station insanely far away (some famously known place or w/e..), that can take prob around an hour irl to get to..
but supercruise space can increase to get to a place faster, and slow you down the closer you get... it's just logic and how the game works
eh boosting in and out the mailslot with different big ships can be fun, and not too bad..
but it can depend on if one likes it, if one has the skill or experience for it
like some still suck at it after trying a ton of times... and some get really good at it, that's just the way people are
then there may be other games out there that have travel time like that..
if you drop out a bit too far away, stations do show up now
though if you drop out way too far, it can take years to get there...
well games are designed based on the theme, goals etc devs have set, discussed etc for the game...
people can always throw suggestions and whatnot at them, but some things may never happen no matter how badly people want something or what people expect or think should be in a game....
like some stuff may not fit in a game, or may be too difficult to add in as it would then be too hard or impossible to do things etc...
supercruise works fine for planets, but it wasn't meant for stations and things to "show up" in that flight/travel mode apparently
maybe there's just too much going on with a station compared to planets, to have such a system
and with 400 billion star systems the player can visit...
