Yes, it takes them out of the action for a few seconds making them just walk in a straight line. But to me that is just a much worse version of the Freeze Grenade and Flashbang.
And yes, Dynamite is my favourite offensive grenade. Explodes on contact, deals tons of damage, and can stumble big Zeds like Fleshpounds and Scrakes if you throw them right.

As Berserker for example, Abomination can turn a walk in the park into quite an intense game. You can run away from him, but you will have trouble dealing with the Abomination Spawns unless you are equipped for it, like combining Eviscerator with the Nailgun.
For example, the only times I've died to the boss with Berserker in solo HoE was against Abomination because eventually there will be so many spawns and they will start coming in front of you as well so you'll take more damage than health you can regenerate.

Honestly, I'd say Abomination is one of the hardest bosses in solo. Berserker struggles because it heavily lacks in taking out trash by ranged methods, most other perks struggle because they are so slow and will just constantly take damage when he gets close. I reckon the two best perks to deal with Abomination in solo are Gunslinger and Field Medic. Medic speaks for itself really, it's fast and tanky. You can play a long and safe boss game against Abomination. Gunslinger does such a ridiculous amount of damage that you'll probably take Abomination out before it gets really bad, plus you are capable of dealing with his spawns from far away while always keeping a safe distance away from him due to your speed.
In co-op it is very different. I'd say he is at the bottom there.
