@cedar lynx I wouldn't say people aren't interested because DS is better. How would they know that anyway? the fraction of the community are players who like soulslike games for the gameplay. Although they must have a favorite, I don't think those people mind what the theme and setting is.
But the main attractor is indeed the latter. A futuristic game isn't everyone's thing and some people might just prefer a medieval one. Personally I'm attracted to both of those extremes instead of what lays in between. Despite all this I think not even that many people are aware of the existence of The Surge 2, or the franchise in the first place. I've known souls for ages but only very recently stumbled upon The Surge... although it seems the franchise has gained some popularity. The thing is I don't go looking for these types of games, I only check it out if somebody shoves it in my hands as a figure of speech. I saw it on the home page of the steam store. and I think many people can also relate to that. You're saying the game is under-appreciated, but I'd probably go and say it's underknown. What little reviews there are, most of them are very positive.

You can then use those shards to pick the exact Heirloom set you’d like. The shards will have the same drop rate as the previous system, so that after 500 Apex Packs, you will have enough Heirloom Shards to obtain an Heirloom set from the Heirloom shop.
