Feel free to blast the Zeds, just keep your distance or you will doom yourself relatively quickly with a low level Demolitionist.

I think Demo's explosive resistance goes up to 50%, so you'll still need to be careful even when you're a high level.

Firebug on the other hand can go all the way up to 100% in fire resistance, so that's pretty nice.

But generally it's not a biggie when you play on lower difficulties.

Most rules and expectations are only really crucial in Suicidal and Hell on Earth.

There isn't much you can do to dodge Fleshpounds with a low speed perk, but you can parry their attacks with your knife.

A parry obviously has to be timed, otherwise you will just block which will reduce the damage but you won't stumble them.

Parry isn't that important anyways. Berserker is the one that should master the art of parrying.

As a Demolitionist you should draw your focus to big zeds. Fleshpounds are often not a big deal as you often dispatch of them relatively easily with RPG. Although I personally prefer Seeker Six for its flexibility.

If you use Seeker Six though, make sure to use the alt mode, otherwise it's quite weak.

And I used to do that when I was newer to the game

When I unlocked everything I liked and found my to-go loadout, I'd just start maining that and guess what happened

My games became repetitive

And no wonder.

I was doing the same thing in every match

Then I started becoming a completionist and I dedicated all of my playtime to grinding

I learned a lot more about the game than just my usual loadout

And whenever I would switch back from shitty weapons to ones I knew back and forth

I was invincible, until I wasn't.
