Functions rely on MC's tags/data stuff and runs a bunch of vanilla commands
Datapacks don't have to use functions, they can modify recipes/loot tables outside of functions

Datapacks usually either modify loot tables / recipes (which have no perf impact, vanilla loot tables and recipes are in a datapack too), but often it's just a bunch of function files (1 file is one "function") which can call other functions. And it's just a list of commands. And probably the reason why /execute command exists, cause it handles a lot of "logic".

What does these mean exactly? java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: SPLASH_POTION java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/bukkit/potion/PotionData. Getting these on TacoSpigot 1.8.8, but not on Paper 1.8.8. I understand support won't be given for forks & outdated versions. Someone said it was because PotionData wasn't added until 1.9, but how come I don't get these errors when using Paper 1.8.8?
