A new stage channel has been added for update vcs: #1116045958871007262
Slow but steady progress is being made - there aren't too many crazy changes, but very small ones that add hoops to almost every patch. about 300 server patches have been updates so far.
As always, even after updating the patches initially, we will still need to actually make the project compile and then to another round of bug-hunting, but we're getting there!
We have now published early versions of the api, javadocs and the paperweight userdev bundle, so that plugin authors can start updating their plugins to 1.20!
Note that this might be incomplete, because not all patches have been applied (correctly) yet, but it should be good enough to start the updating process for plugin authors.
Edit: to reiterate. It's INCOMPLETE. It doesn't allow you to start a dev server. It will instantly crash.
Going strong with almost all patches applied, but still a good number of tedious compile errors to go, including testing afterwards
Also see above <@&1077384171258908743>: Preliminary API and userdev bundle have already been published under 1.20-R0.1-SNAPSHOT
⚠️ Experimental test builds for Paper 1.20 are here! You can find them at: https://github.com/PaperMC/Paper/pull/9285 ⚠️
Please only run them on test servers, and make backups of your worlds. If you find any new bugs, open a new issue on our issue tracker: https://github.com/PaperMC/Paper/issues
Once this final validation phase is over, builds will be published to our downloads api, still as experimental, and a larger announcement will follow.
Additionally, the api and dev bundle have been updated too.
Experimental builds are also available through our API and website now!
1.20 builds are deemed stable now - see the #announcements channel
