Everyones favorite karate soap opera comes to a conclusion

#

So, unspoilered thoughts.

I'm honestly not sure if im relieved or dissapointed that Johnnys final move wasnt a Crane Kick.

No Aisha - booooo! You couldnt even get her back for a cameo to cheer on Miguel and Sam? I dunno, have her be sensei of a new branch? C'mon, I wanted to see her again.

Kenny was demoted to extra, which fucking sucks. He doesnt even get a happily-ever-after shot

Oh dear god, please let the BTTF thing only be a joke.

I love that they dont even bother trying to keep the Sekai Taikais rules grounded. Fuck it, the rule is whatever would result in what the audience wants.

This was silly and sincere and stupid and I loved every minute of it.

Same, it started rocky by being a Funny Or Die sketch turned YouTube Red series, it was amazing and good that Netflix picked it up and was so much better than it had any right to be.

#

Demetri's...happy outcome with his girlfriend felt like the kind of wish fulfillment you get in a Fanfic though <_<

Eh. It wasnt him and Hawk realizing theyre in love, but it worked.

rotund cave

Agreed but they got a shared vanity plate and going to college together and probably one day will get drunk and get matching tattoos

#

I was really happy with almost all of Tory's closure in the series, the brand sponsorship deal screamed of: Father "AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY. EVER. AFTER." Kid: dad why did you close the book... Father:" Happily. Ever. After, Go to sleep."

#

Overall I do agree it somehow, miraculously almost, stuck the landing

But theres still one more trick to go.

Speaking of which, I wasnt the only one expecting Jackie Chan to use chopsticks to grab that fly, was I?

Also what was with that BTTF joke or reference...I felt a bit confused by that lol

shy brook
#

Meta joke of the shows creators planning to do to Biff what they did to Johnny.

rotund cave
#

Ahhh fair, I think I could trust them to do that, but also Cobra Kai felt like lightning in the bottle? Is that the right idiom,

Im almost positive it was just a joke, not something theyre seriously attempting.

Apart from anything else, Zemeckis famously will not allow any kind of sequel, prequel or reboot of BTTF while he is still alive.

Also in episode 13, Frozen Caveman Sensei, William God Damned Zabka Acted his fucking heart out in that scene with Kreese

I do think he's being doing an incredible job the entire time, but yeah, that was The Most. Letting go of 40 years of trauma that caused him to be so emotionally stunted that it essentially froze him into an self-destructive teenager was a hell of a thing for an actor to do. Getting to the place where he can fully say what he's been trying to teachthe whole show: That the lessons of Cobra Kai are not inherently bad or harmful, it is how they are used and understood that is the problem. Johnny Lawrence is not perfect, but he is now the man he always wanted to be. A loving husband, a trying father, successful sensei and an honest to gods world champion.

Agreed, wholeheartedly, it was astounding how good they did at making this Frozen Caveman Sensei grow and develop over the course of the series

Cobra Kai is a wonderfully written show involving incredible character development wrapped up in one of the dumbest shows this side of Riverdale

#

And they could have gone Full Riverdale if they wanted to, and I'm glad they didn't.

#

I do have one gripe though. Thunderstruck? Really? Not Back in Black?

#

It sold me on a new Karate Kid movie especially since it is being directly tied to Cobra Kai

loud gate
#

Cobra Kai sold me on Karate Kid. I had never watched them until I had already seen several seasons of Cobra Kai

rotund cave
#

It was also kind of amazing how effectively and totally they were able to get old cast back

loud gate
#

They're not exactly doing a whole lot

rotund cave
#

Sure, but I assume a couple probably would have retired from Acting by now <_<

loud gate
#

They probably did, but I think doing Cobra Kai looked like a lot of fun, so pretty much anyone asked jumped at the chance.

#

I honestly hope that it leads into some career rivivals for folks. It deserves to do more than just kickstart careers like Xolo's

rotund cave
#

Which also good on the crew, showrunners and writers to make it seem fun

#

Let William Zabka be more than 1 role from the 80s

loud gate
#

William Zabka for Zordon

#

Hell, make Macchio Alpha 5 while we're at it

rotund cave
#

Yeah give Zabka a role where he needs to be an apprehensive teacher/instructor/mentor to a group of kids

loud gate
#

Zabka for Wildcat in Gunn's DCU

rotund cave
#

Who would he be good as in the MCU hmm

#

Initially I was thinking like multiverse shenanigans to bring an aged Danny Rand

What about a Summers?
