I'm still not sure about how advanced all the space stuff has gotten from S3... The Fusion power being my main point of contention because it just seems like such a jump

Honestly I have no idea... They had the Fusion Power in S3 though I guess just not miniaturised enough for engines?
The window stuff is for minimising energy spent I think though so you can ignore it any time its just vastly inefficient.
