Ascension and how it Functions

Hi! I hit Prestige 25 today and i unlocked Ascension. Now, i wonder, how does Ascension work? What is it’s functions? What lets you keep and what makes you lose? This kinda stumped me for a bit, so i kinda stopped playing and i decided to ask. I’ll just do the the Meatloaf Party event till i get an answer.

Ascension is kinda like prestige,but better.It gives you Ascension crystals to upgrade certain things that are permanent.Examples are extra furnace,extra ability slot,more PPS, buffed biomes,more pps items etc.You only keep your mythical artificials,pickaxe that are seasonal or obtained from chest and runic when ascending.

yes ascending helps, but try to aim for at least 50 ascension crystals before doing it
