Can't smelt special items (like tumbleweeds)

So, I was playing the game and I went to smelt tumbleweeds to get further with the tumbleweed pps upgrade, but the option to smelt tumbleweeds wasn't there. The only thing there was in the special items section was gunpowder. Is there a set trigger to make tumbleweeds pop up that I missed somehow? Pls lemme know if you know what's going on :(

You must first have reached the Mesa biome in this prestige. btw its the same with every special furnace
