What's happening with the 2x Vanilla (8 player limit server)

The goal is to have it fully up and running for Wednesday the 10th. It will be very similar to our 2x Trio. The kits will almost be the exact same with Minor changes.

I have decided I'm done doing map voting. It started out great but its even more of a hassle for me now. I have to find multiple maps instead of just 1 that are decent and then have them up a day or 2. As we expand more and more I can't keep doing all these map votes. So Ill just be picking the maps for now on and releasing them once the server wipes. Thanks for understanding.

Tomorrow is patch day and im going to explain what will happen for each server.

Thursday Solo/Duo/Trio Vanilla

  • Full wiping tomorrow when the update is released

Monday Solo/Duo/Trio Vanilla

  • Server will get updated tomorrow but will not be wiped. So once the update is released we will update this server. Next wipe for this server is on Monday and that will be a full wipe

2x Solo/Duo/Trio Modded

  • Server will wipe tomorrow. We will give all players all bps that play tomorrow. Then on Saturday the server will fully wipe and be back on schedule.

@everyone Today is Update day and as always the update should be out between 2-5 pm EST. Once the update hits our servers will be updated and back online! Until then here is what is new coming to the update!

New Clothing Slot / Gloves

  • New 7th Slot added. After years of complaints from players on Reddit it has been finally added! Also coming with this is 3 types of a Armour gloves! Burlap gloves, Roadsign gloves, and a non-craftable glove called Tactical gloves. Tactical gloves greatly decrease sway with a scope.

New Weapon! L96 and 8x

  • The L96 is a military-grade rifle non-craftable. The L96 can be found in event crates and is very rare. The scope for this gun 8x can be found in the black market, elite crates and Bradley event. This scope cannot be crafted.

Damage stats for L96 HeadShots
Naked head shot - Full kill
Heavy mask head - 22 dmg
Metal mask head - 90 dmg
Hazmat suit head - Full kill
Coffee can head - Full kill

Cargo ship

  • This beast roams around the rust island with multiple elite crate and Chinook crates. Be careful of the super powerful scientist when trying to board!

Few bug fixes

  • Other then that only other thing they have changed is a few bug fixes like,
    AK47 very very slowly driving upwards

Rust Halloween Update Tomorrow

Strobe light - with this item coming into the game a new seizure warning message has been added to the loading screen. This light is very bright and might cause harm to some users.

Halloween Sounds - New Halloween sounds have been added to get everyone in the Halloween mood

Scarecrows - Just like last year NPC's these ones are now dressed like scarecrows and will spawn around the map

Barrel Costume - YOU CAN DRESS LIKE A BARREL. You know them blue barrels you see around the map? Well you can now be one with this costume. It does effect your vision just like heavy armour.

Butcher knife - Just like swords we now have a butcher knife to be look even more scary

Pitchfork - This item is pretty much a spear shaped like a pitchfork. Long attack range and can be thrown.

Cursed Cauldron - Another version of the came fire made to look like you are cooking some nasty stuff up for Halloween.

Candle Sets - 2 new candle sets added, large and small. Small one cost 100 wood and takes no fuel. Large candles sets also cost 100 wood and take up no fuel. This is a default blueprint.

Sickle - A remodel of the metal hatchet. This item will be for sale in the rust store when update is released.

Fogger-3000 - Fog machine that is like smoke grenades but can be activated on and off.

Graveyard Fence - A new building item that allows you to place graveyard fence's

Spooky Speaker - Allows you to play spooky sounds when placed.

None of this information is 100% correct. This is what we currently have on staging and anything can be added, removed or modified at any time.

Player Count Bots have gotten a upgrade. They will no longer go to 0 once they hit 255. Also they now show how many players are joining in the () and if the server is full and it has a number in the () that is how many players are in the queue.

  • The time has come, the XP server will be shutting down today. It was a good run and im very grateful to have the opportunity to bring back the old XP system thanks to @mint isle and @potent spade. Furnace Splitter Update

  • Sorting whilst the furnace is burning is now allowed
  • The UI now shows the time remaining on the furnace to finish smelting
  • On the UI there is now an option for the number of stacks of a specific item you want to split between

Server Changes

  • Very soon we will be adding VPN checking. Meaning if you attempt to join on a VPN you will be removed automatically. We will have a white-list process but it will be very limited.

  • Also coming in the near future, if you have a rust game banned in association with your account meaning a account was rust game banned on your IP, you will not be welcome to play. We will have a automatic system which will ban anyone who attempts to join from a alt account of a rust game banned account.

  • The reason that we are taking these steps is because we want to keep the servers as hacker free as possible. We are always looking for ways to improve at keeping the servers as clean as possible. Feel free to make suggestions in #🧠︱suggestions

Lag Explanation
I understand everyone is starting to get frustrated with the lag that has started once again. About 2 months back we were having the same issue. Someone is using amazon servers to build a extremely powerful "botnet" to take down servers on our hosting. Once a server is hit, we are feeling spikes of lag. Our hosting is doing everything they can to try to stop these attacks. Unfortunately its also starting to frustrate me. I am looking into opportunities of being able to switch hostings. It may or may not happen. The reason I would not like to switch hostings is its a big risk. Switching hosting would mean all our servers would have to be migrated which takes a bit of time. On top of that we would lose IP history. Meaning everyone that has our servers in the history tab and favorite tab in the server browser would no longer see our servers. It would be like starting fresh. That is scary to me considering we are on a constant growth and this would be a major risk. For the time being we are doing our best to hold with this hosting and hope they get it together. I appreciate all the support everyone does in defending us when the chat gets out of hand. I'm truly sorry that this is how it is. Hope everyone can understand! ❤

Hey guys! No wipes today or tomorrow! Force wipe is Thursday and Tomorrow we will send a update announcement on how all of that will be happening!

Just wanted to make this announcement to give a update on a few things! Coming Thursday a new set of rules will be in place, they are basically the same as the old rules but more detailed! Here they are below!

New Rules

Max of 3 players authorized on Codes & TC's at all times
Max of 3 players per group 
Max of 3 players per base 
Max of 3 players roaming /raiding
No making deals of any kind with another team to not kill each other/work together
No allowing a player in your base from another group under any circumstances
No Allies and or Slaves
No hotels / giving away bases ("you can abandon a base")
No Racism, Homophobia or Excessive Toxicity
No Advertising 
Any form of cheats / hacking is not allowed
Staff have final say, being toxic to staff will get you automatically removed
To swap players follow the swapping rules ```

**Swapping Rules:**

Remove all bags/beds for the players that is leaving
Change codes ( If you don't change codes you can potentially be banned for authorizing more than 3)
Clear TC
Player that is leaving can not return to your group for the rest of wipe
Leave a message in the #support channel in discord of who you are rotating out and in and what server```

Message from our hosting

We are observing particularly frequent and large attacks today at most locations, including Chicago. When an attack is occurring that saturates one of our upstream links, our system instantly null-routes the target to minimize damage, but a small burst of packet loss is seen by a segment of clients (those whose inbound traffic came over a saturated upstream link).

The primary source of these attacks continues to be Amazon, as they still do not have systems in place to effectively mitigate outbound attack traffic. Some other cloud providers that do not proactively notice abuse and do not quickly handle abuse notifications are also involved, including Oracle, Microsoft, and DO.

We will continue to mitigate these attacks as they are seen. We have been in contact with a couple of these other cloud providers in the past about improvements that need to be implemented on their end to help, and we have been assured by some that improvements are on the way. In locations that can receive upgrades, such as Chicago, we are also in the process of those upgrades, to help on our end with attacks that may occur later on.

Attacks activity typically comes in bursts, and holidays are a favorite time for attackers to launch attacks.

Regarding the known ping issue

Most of the attacks over the last few days were huge attacks against our hosting, recently NFO has blocked the entire source of the attacks that were coming from Digital Ocean. In the last day that Digital Ocean has been blocked it seems the attacks have come to a stop. We do see some minor hiccups here and there but for the most part they have stopped. With that being said for now we will stick to NFO in hope that this situation has been solved as no other options are really good atm. Lots of questions regarding the Official servers and why they arent up!

Both official servers are actually online, the issue is one of the servers stalled last night for about 30m-1 hour. This caused Facepunch's monitor system to mess up and blacklist our servers. (Meaning the server will not show on the server browser). Typically it takes 24 hours to be released from the blacklist to show on the browser again. I am trying to get it released sooner but currently no luck at the moment. For now you will have to use direct connection to connect to the servers.

Don't know what Embankment is? Embankment is an old Rustoria Team v Team gamemode brought back a few months back. It is a medium sized arena where two teams (randomly chosen) will go up against each other. You have a 10 minute grace period to farm materials, craft items (no bp's, no components needed), and gear up before the wall in the center drops. Once the wall drops, it's all out warfare. Keep in mind, you only have one life, so play smart! A zone will start to move in as time goes on, and push players towards the center of the map. Try your luck and hop on!

Update on some situations

Regarding Lag

  • The lag is coming from the hosting, atm there is nothing we can do for it. The hosting is getting hit with huge attacks. So screaming at us to fix it will change nothing

Regarding linking rewards

  • Currently the linking rewards are broke for the 2x-trio. They are broke due to a new system we tried. They can not be fixed without a restart so for now they will not be available.

Hey all I want to give a update on the Monday Trio & Medium Machine. I believe something is certainly wrong with this machine. I have tried to contact support from the hosting and due to what is going on around the world they are very behind on responding. I decided to order a new machine for the servers which is a upgrade to the network from 250gbps to 1tbps. This machine also has a lot more powerful clock speed then the current machine. Once the machine is ready which can take anywhere from 24 - 72h I will be moving the Monday Trio & Medium to hopefully solve this issue. I apologize for this and hope this will fix our issue. ❤️
