Specs, for the ones who care:
Board: Supermicro X9SRA
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1650 v2
RAM: 4x 4GB Qimonda Registered ECC DDR3-1066
Graphics: HP AMD Radeon RX580 4GB
Storage (boot): 512GB ADATA Ultimate SU800 SSD
Storage (user): 1TB Hitachi UltraStar HDD 7200RPM
Case + fans: DIYPC D480 White

Why is the RAM in the slots closest to the CPU:
The reason why I have the memory modules only in the first and second channels is because a bent pin on the CPU socket that was a memory data pin for one of the two other channels. Supermicro support and the ECC error logs has helped me figure this out. Could be as simple as taking the machine down to the lab and using tweezers but the hard part is finding time for it.

This is certainly not a gaming PC and a workstation build. Currently, I run software like Xactimate, Matterport (browser app, still uses a ton of VRAM), FreeCAD, KiCAD. It is also used for programming in which the Rust compilier is used.
