This is an example from MANUAL REGISTRATION for tournaments (not using the bot). If this can be implemented, many hosts will use the bot for more tournament needs that require more members to play. In Manual registration it asks for In game Name and Discord name. All of mobile community requires these 2 parameters to sign up for a tournament
Thanks for sharing this feedback. So let me give some context as to why the team process is how it currently is.
We use forms to do a lot of actions in Discord and those forms are also used for team registration! So you enter in the first field your team name and then your roster. Now, the limitation with this is that the form only allows for a maximum of 5 fields. Our team size limit is 12. So right there we cannot do it with forms. So! We put all of the roster on a new line in one field, which is the current system. This achieves a few things:
- We can actually use forms to accept registrations for teams
- We offer a wider variety of registration formats the admin may wish, such as participants entering their IGN, or Discord username or maybe their real life name if its a LAN event etc.
Now, Discord don't allow people to be @ tagged in those fields, it's a limitation on their end. So you saying you wish for us to be able to tag them isn't possible in their ordinary UI. A workaround would be to grab their Discord ID and tag them manually with @novel schooner (this would be mine). Clearly this is a highly inaccessible workaround, but it is still a workaround... the only final option to make tagging a discord user possible is by redesigning the entire team registration feature, which if we were to do would be on the Tournaments website.
I hope that explains why your request isn't really doable. I recommend either teaching your community how to grab those Discord IDs and <@ID> people, or you update their roster for them. Thanks @earnest shell
Thank you for the response.
