#Emerald Egg IV Frame Method Question

Playing retail authentic emerald on unmodified gba sp ags-101. I have my PID already generated in the daycare and saved. I’m going for a 6IV spread. One is available at frame advance 73780 via normal frame method (referred to as ‘emerald bred’ on pokemonrng.com tool). 73780 is a far away frame advance so I’m using a battle video record saved at around frame advance 73000. After calibration, I’m able to hit the target frame advance (73780) and consistently hit +-2 advances.

My problem is that I am only hitting split method frames, but my target is normal method frame.

I have tried reseeding the battle video at different times, using different battle facilities to record the video. I have tried flipping the trainer card when first loading the saved, and after loading the battle video. I have tired opening and closing the pokedex before and after loading battle video. I have tried not spamming the ‘a’ button after soft resetting and before seeding the rng to be recorded on the battle video.

I did get one or two normal method frames when first calibrating the frame advance after recording the battle video (100+ frames away from target) however, when I am close to my target, I keep getting strictly only split method frames.

If any one can point me to any references or information on the different frame methods for IV generation, or help me figure this out - that would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Egg methods are quite complex as the whole process of generating an offspring takes a lot of steps.

#

Some of these steps will take variable computing cycles and thus will yield into different IV patterns.

#

Things that affect the process are species of the parents and the generating offspring, PID cost of the parents & the held one for the offspring, number of moves at Lv. 5 of the offspring, the use of any Incence to breed the corresponding baby mon, etc.

#

All these things can take more of less cycles, making vblank happening at different points which yield a different egg method

#

As far as I can tell Trainer Card flips or Pokédex shenanigans are all hoax techniques that are totally unproven to work…

#

There’s no consistent way of landing on a desired generation method

#

If you’ve been landing on Split method for all these attempts I advise you to search for a target within this method
