Gen 6 Wild Help? (Retail)

So I'm following this guide for wild hunting https://github.com/s-Rambo/RNG-Guides/blob/main/NormalWild-FS-RNG.md

I get all the way to the end where it says press any direction besides the way your facing and press a but when I do the encounter it doesn't happen is there any reason why?

I'm currently on Route 22 in Pokemon Y hunting for litleo and I beat some of the trainers that were moving in the area does that affect the rng process?

Just an update so when I press the d-pad and a my character took about 10 steps and trigger an encounter so would I need to adjust the delay in anyway?

This is an example everything lines up perfectly but once I start the game there's no encounters unless I move more than 10 steps or so

Are you using a repel?

Could see if something like a max repel works if you’re not using that

Yup I used a regular repel but I could try a max repel

Did the max repel fix the issue?
